What you’ll be doing:
As a CNC Offline Programmer, you will be expected to use engineering principles in order to generate programs using computer software for all Machining Centres at Leidos Industrial Engineers to ensure CNC machinery and lathes can operate safely and efficiently for the manufacture of components, products and assembly fixtures for the automotive and industrial automation industries. Working either by yourself or as part of a larger manufacturing team you will work on all stages of the programming process.
Key responsibilities will also include
Set, operate and Programme CNC Machinery and Lathes safely and efficiently
Offline Programming using One CNC
Preparing cutting tools.
Reading and working to drawings supplied
specifying materials for type, size and quantity and writing on the drawing
Responsible for making sure the programs are efficient.
Supervision of completion of Job Record Sheets for each component
Supervision of completion of Time Cards on a daily basis
Saving of programs so everybody can find them.
You will be required to produce jigs/fixtures and tooling methods to determine the most cost efficient procedure of manufacturing components.
Inspection sheets/Daily sheets.
Be aware of and Implement ISO9001, ISO14001 and Q1.
Be aware of and implement Health and Safety at all times.
Encourage teamwork and Motivate shop floor personnel.
to cover the shift and in the absences of the team leader
Mentor new staff as required
Be responsible for making sure that all manufacturing paper work is completed correctly.
About you:
You’ll have a track record in CNC Offline Programming in a manufacturing environment and demonstrable industry knowledge using engineering principles to provide efficient solutions for the manufacture of machine engineered, precision components, coupled with:
Proven CNC Machining, Milling and Lathe experience is essential
Experienced with Fanuc/Siemens an advantage
Accustomed to working in a fast paced, engineering environment
Must be able to read engineering drawings, set CNC machines and use measuring equipment
Ability to work using Metric and Imperial measurements is a must
Automotive, Industrial Automation or Aerospace industry experience preferred
Ideally apprenticeship trained and qualified to GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
Good technical literacy skills

Although the role is to be based from our Wickford hub, the successful candidate may be required to regularly travel to other locations within the UK and worldwide, therefore a valid passport and full driving licence is mandatory.
