Distribution Project Manager -  Orlando, FL

Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for a Distribution Project Manager who will work alongside engineering and the project management team for various clients supported by the Power Delivery Services (PDS) division in Central Florida.  

The Distribution Project Manager will be part of an established Project Management Office (PMO) within the PDS Division that provides consulting services to both public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities. These consulting services provide clients with overall project management tasks in the areas of comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission and distribution projects nationwide. 

The successful candidate must have experience in developing the work packages electrical distribution work, using customer systems such as GE Smallworld, Bentley Expert Designer and Maximo. The candidate will be comfortable in both a field and office setting and have strong project management skillset including organization, scheduling, communication management, and fiscal planning. 

Distribution Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Assist the PMO team, engineering, and external clients with managing various sized distribution projects for public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities located throughout the Southeast United States

  • Create project schedules, develop project management plans, and manage resource teams

  • Ensure project deliverables are acceptable by reviewing the submissions from engineering and performing an internal QAQC

  • Monitor workflows to ensure work packages are on schedule and within budget.

  • Develop status update and financial reports to produce weekly/monthly reports for client and internal management review including progress, costs, schedule, and risks across a portfolio of distribution projects

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project dashboard reports and KPI tracking

To Be Considered

  • Entry Level: Bachelor’s degree in the following disciplines: Engineering, Construction Management, Business or Finance required with a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant technical project manager experience

  • Mid Level: Bachelor’s degree in the following disciplines: Engineering, Construction Management, Business or Finance required with a minimum of two (2) + years of relevant technical project manager experience

Distribution Project Manager Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with electric power industry and knowledge of business issues associated with power delivery services

  • Distribution engineering experience including experience with Voltage Conversion projects, Road Widening Projects, Major Underground Projects, Street Lighting, Conductor replacements, or Overhead to underground conversions

  • Project management experience

  • Must have the capability for planning, organizing, directing, and tracking technical efforts on assigned tasks 

  • Experience with design standards 

  • Collaborative and inclusive of individuals of diverse backgrounds and geographic locations

  • Client and subcontractors coordination experience including running field meetings

  • Must be able to work within a team environment 

  • Strong communication skills, written and interpersonal communications skills and supporting of customer advocacy

  • Ability to work with limited supervision

  • Periodic travel is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MAXIMO, MS Project, JIRA or similar project management platforms

  • Experience providing estimated costs, development of a BOM, calculating the CIAC
