Job Description:

Leidos is seeking a Tax Intern in Reston, VA.

The Leidos Corporate Tax Department is seeking a Tax Intern to join the Income Tax Operations team of tax professionals supporting the international tax and provision functions at our Corporate Office located in Reston, VA.

The Tax Intern will be a member of the Corporate Tax department.  This is a unique position allowing the candidate to have hands-on experience dealing with income tax compliance and provision for a $13 billion company.  The candidate’s primary role will be to support the Income Tax Operations team on the foreign tax compliance and provision work. This requires understanding income tax accounting rules in general. Responsibilities will include reviewing foreign tax returns, preparing tax payments, and performing tax research and analysis of various international tax issues to assist in responding to tax authorities from various tax jurisdictions. The candidate will also have the opportunity to assist in the quarterly tax provision. The position requires attention to detail and exemplary organization skills. This is a year-round internship requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week.  The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.

-Analyze and reconcile various income tax accounts on a monthly basis
-Support Income Tax Operations team with various accounting and tax compliance filing obligations
-Assist in responding to US and foreign income tax notices and audit inquiries
-Communicate verbally and in writing with representatives of foreign tax jurisdictions
-Preparation of miscellaneous tax forms (FBAR, Form 8802, Form W-8, etc.)
-Process foreign tax payments and obtain officer signatures on necessary tax filings
-Assist with ad hoc projects such as maintaining tax exemption certificates in various foreign jurisdictions
-Assist in miscellaneous administrative tasks such as developing support files and maintaining records
** This is a year-round internship requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week.

-Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program from an accredited university with a plan to major in Tax or Accounting with a 3.0 GPA.
-Ideal candidate would have an interest in pursuing a job in Tax.
-Intermediate skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
-Strong work ethic and the ability to keep highly sensitive information confidential.
-Ability to effectively interact with co-workers of all levels and with other departments within the finance organization.
-Must be comfortable with virtual communications and working with geographically disparate groups.
-U.S. Citizenship is required.

-A quick learner who is willing to take on new challenges and roles.
-Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-Self-starter able to work independently and as a team.
-A general knowledge of income tax.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $38,400.00 - $52,000.00 - $65,600.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
