Job Description:
The Homeland Security Solutions Operation under the Intelligence Group at Leidos currently has an opening within the Professional Services Support Program for a Satellite Communications Technician. The candidate is responsible for providing remote and site service, repair and/or installation support of existing hardware, software, network configurations and new system initiatives for all sites within area of responsibility. They will diagnose mechanical or technical deviations from performance specifications using established procedures and prepare reports for analysis of failure trends and service ability issues. Their duties may also include on-site support services as well as assisting in the development and ensuring adherence to area-wide procedural/policy changes. The candidate will be responsible for entire projects or processes within their professional area and will typically be responsible for coaching and reviewing the work of their peers. They will develop technical solutions that require collaboration with internal experts and perform deep analyses of the impact on the end-product/solution. Additionally, they will develop solutions to technical problems and issues that are unclear and require deep technical knowledge.
Basic Qualifications
Must possess a minimum of a TS/SCI clearance
Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 12 years of experience with Satellite Communication (SATCOM) systems to include system operations, engineering, design, installation, repair, and analysis
Expert-level knowledge of the DoD satellite resource allocation process.
Very proficient with operating and installing satellite modems, associated cables, and interconnects; Up Converters, Redundancy Switch; Down Converters, HPAs, Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), LNB; Waveguide (rigid, flex, and elliptical) joints and connections; IF cable and connections; Antenna, Antenna motors, Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), Antenna Control Unit (ACU), and associated cabling and interconnects.
Expert knowledge of electronic and radio frequency (RF) theory; spectrum analyzers; antennas and signal propagation; Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) systems; Communications on the Move (COTM) and Communications On the Pause (COTP) operational principles.
Must be able to maintain a valid driver's license.
Must have normal color vision.
Able to constantly stand to perform maintenance tasks for extended periods of time; frequently walk to access work sites while maintaining balance on uneven surfaces; make frequent coordinated hand movements to grasp, place, or move objects.
Able to occasionally: bend, stoop, and kneel; climb to access equipment, to use ladders, and to use lift carts; lift and carry objects weighing up to forty-five (45) pounds a minimum of twenty (20) feet; push and pull objects weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $90,350.00 - $139,000.00 - $187,650.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
