The Database Administrator serves as database SME and provides recommendations and guidance to the Government and development teams on SQL Server database best practices and solutions. Provides database administration support or existing on-premises databases and leads the database migration into AWS.
Primary Responsibilities include:
•Configure and manage SQL database backup plans.
•Implement database security best practices in accordance with government requirements.
•Monitor queries and provide optimization and efficiency recommendations to the Government and application development team members.
•Determine recommended solution for database migration, create project plan documents, including task-focused schedules, and execute migration plan for on-premises SQL Server databases into AWS;
•Manage existing database replication services.
•Configure and manage logging.
•Monitor system performance and identify and resolve issues that arise.
•Design and implement appropriate AWS SQL configuration for redundancy and failover for migrated databases.
•Assist with database management and provide design recommendations to application development team members.
•Five (5) years of experience in SQL Server database administration.
•Two (2) years of proven experience with development and management of databases within AWS;
•Two (2) years of experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
•Proven experience working on an agile software development team with agile and scrum methodology.
•Experience with SQL programming and database design.
•Ability to quickly problem solve, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues.
•Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Computer Science, Database Programming, Database Administration, Information Systems or related field of study and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience.
•Must be a US Citizen.
•Must have Top Secret Clearance – Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Eligible
•AWS Certified Database
•Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA): Database Fundamentals SQL Certification
•Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate Certification
Pay Range:Pay Range $101,400.00 - $156,000.00 - $210,600.00
