The Defense Group at Leidos is currently seeking a Lead Information System Security Engineer to lead configuration and implementation efforts for information systems at the Chesapeake, VA facility. The Lead Information System Security Engineer will perform life cycle planning for all information systems to include initiation, development, operation and decommission in effort to meet Risk Management Framework compliance initiatives.

This position will be a key factor in delivering, configuring, and maintaining a diverse set of information systems ranging from military weapon systems to business productivity systems at the facility. The desired candidate will be a part of an agile cyber team and will collaborate with the site Information System Security Manger, Information System Security Officers, and Information Assurance Engineers in providing customer solutions.

Responsibilities – What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Perform life cycle planning for all information systems to include initiation, development, operation and decommission in effort to meet regulatory compliance initiatives.

  • Delegate tasking to Information Assurance Engineers.

  • Provide subject matter expert support to Information Assurance Engineers.

  • Provide status reports to the ISSM and ISSO’s regarding configuration and implementation statuses for new and existing systems.

  • Manage tech refreshes and upgrade activities during the system life cycle.

  • Perform system baseline implementation (e.g., implementing STIGs, NIST controls) on various technologies including Windows, Linux, and Cisco IOS.

  • Manage new systems requests / onboarding of new systems into the production environment.

  • Recommend hardware and software components for new systems.

  • Develop configuration diagrams.

  • Act as lead support for helpdesk (break/ fix) requests.

  • Respond to helpdesk (break/fix) requests.

  • Assist with development of Helpdesk/Knowledge Base articles.

  • Conduct backups and restoration of information systems.

  • Meet project deadlines a requested by the ISSM.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education – To Land This Gig You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years related experience in Information Systems, Computer Science. Additional relevant experience, training, and / or certification may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Candidate must meet or exceed DoD 8570 Qualifications for IAT Level II

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education – Favorable if you have:

  • Solid understanding of the Risk Management Framework

  • Solid understanding of the NIST SP 800-53 Rev 4/ DCSA Assessment and Authorization Process Manual

  • Experience with baseline tools such as STIG Viewer, SCC SCAP and Tenable Nessus

  • Solid understanding of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Operating Systems, Windows Server Operating Systems, Windows Desktop Operating Systems and Cisco IOS

  • Experience is using business productivity tools such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, OneNote) to keep track of assigned tasks.

Clearance Required:

  • Must have and be able to maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $94,250.00 - $145,000.00 - $195,750.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
