Job Description:

The Leidos Civil Group is seeking a mid-level Technical Writer to join the National Airspace System (NAS) Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team supporting the Washington DC office. The position will provide support to Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Air Traffic Organization (ATO), Management Services Business, Financial Services Directorate, Material Management and Procurement Group, Property Team, (AJG-R24).  This group is responsible for ensuring ATO employees have the resources they need to effectively perform their work by providing the following service: equipment and property management/inventory; telecommunications; space management; contracts; travel; supply management, and ad hoc miscellaneous logistical areas in support of the ATO AJG business services function.   

Responsible for the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents. Writes and edits technical documentation for the team.  Expected to be onsite at FAA HQ in Washington D.C. one day a week.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The Financial Services Directorate requires technical writing support for the director level and all three groups for the following: 
  • Development and coordination of Air Traffic Organization (ATO) Business Rules including but not limited to: 
  • Drafting and editing of existing documentation 
  • Overseeing and managing changes 
  • Developing briefing materials 
  • Coordinating document within Management Services and with other Service Units 
  • Establishing version control
  • Coordinating document approval and distribution 
  • Development and coordination of ATO National Wireless Program Policy 
  • Drafting and editing of existing documentation 
  • Overseeing and managing changes 
  • Developing briefing materials 
  • Coordinating document within Management Services and with other Service Units 
  • Establishing version control 
  • Coordinating document approval and distribution 
  • Financial Services Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Desk Guides.
  • Ensuring all SOPS are in the approved format  
  • Coordinating documents with subject matter experts within Management Services 
  • Developing internal controls and processes associate with the SOPS 
  • Coordinating finalization and posting of SOPS 
  • Preparation of briefing packages, brochures, handouts, and other materials in various mediums 
  • Input of all documentation requiring ATO COO/DCOO approval into EDMS 
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in varying formats, such as text, graph, and pictures 
  • Maintain records of decisions and prepare packages for management 
  • Expert knowledge of the English language, including grammar and usage of excellent editorial and writing abilities 
  • Utilizes plan language and standard business writing protocols 
  • Complete assignments accurately, thoroughly, and within established timelines 
  • Plan and use assigned resources appropriately to accomplish tasks; must be able to work on many different projects at one time 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment 
  • Utilize various sources including websites, systems, SharePoint, to gather data on related topics in order to communicate connectivity to documentation and identify any potential areas that may be impacted. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 6 years of professional experience; or 4 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree.
  • Expert in the use of all Microsoft Office Products (O365) including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, Outlook, Teams, etc. 
  • Proficient in Adobe Pro, Visio, SharePoint  
  • Experience in communicating verbally and in writing to various levels of leadership and SMEs to ensure high standards are met. 
  • Ability to handle time sensitive and highly visible materials 
  • Non-disclosure agreement required 
  • Knowledge of the FAA/ATO desired. 
  • Previous work experience for/with the FAA is highly preferred.
  • Prior work experience with US government managers, employees and programs.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $57,850.00 - $89,000.00 - $120,150.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.

Covid Guidance for the US
