Job Description:

Leidos has an opening for a User Experience Architect / User Engineer Lead. In this role you will apply human performance principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human-machine systems and products. Develop and implement research methodologies and statistical analysis plans to test and evaluate developmental prototypes used in new products and processes, such as cockpit designs, user workstations, and computerized human models. Interface with design engineers to establish system design, operating, and training requirements and to ensure optimized human-machine interfaces. Identify and analyze technological problems or risks, perform theoretical human factors investigations, and develops and implements research and analysis plans. This role will be influential and critical to development of strategic solutions, with coordination required across both Leidos and Government stakeholders to resolve highly complex problems. Such tasks will require the ability to communicate with executive leadership, using significant application of User Engagement technical knowledge and conceptualization. Coordination with additional support functions and support organizations as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and articulate UX elements of AI strategy for a major intelligence community software development program. 

  • Design, articulate, and lead UI/UX solution development for an advanced analytic modeling program that will transform the workflow of thousands of analysts. 

  • Manage diverse teams within the program to work directly with expert analysts to understand their existing tools, data and workflow to ensure newly developed tools and technology will meet the needs of the program while maximizing user acceptance.

  • Identify, screen, and lead partnership activities with key Leidos suppliers in UI/UX and other technology elements of AI solutions and related areas.  ‘

  • Serve as a leading technical expert on UX for the program ensuring that advanced technologies including graph analytics, visual analytics, machine learning and others, may transition successfully into wide operational use with maximum user adoption.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, information systems, data science, or a related field with at least 12 years with advanced UX.

  • Must currently possess an active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph U.S. security clearance, to be considered for this position.

  • 2+ years’ experience developing advanced UI/UX for AI systems.

  • 5+ years’ experience developing UI/UX for software systems. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively about UX and its relationship to data analysis, modeling and automation with a broad range of audiences, particularly expert customer analysts, but also internal leaders, external customers and from sophisticated AI researchers to those with little or no relevant background.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience delivering solutions meeting mission needs for Defense, Intelligence, or civil government customers

  • MBA or other advanced training/experience in business strategy.

  • Formal credentials in design, graphic design, and/or UI/UXE.

  • Established relationships with leading AI companies.

  • Experience in developing novel UI/UX for AI systems that foster user trust.

  • Experience broad set of current interface and software design tools and elements including (but not limited to): Adobe XD, Axure, Illustrator, InDesign, Kibana, Tableau, Confluence, Jira, HTML, CSS, Javascript.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $113,100.00 - $174,000.00 - $234,900.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
