Job Description:

Due the COVID-19 pandemic, employees are highly encouraged to work remotely from their home office, although weekly visits to the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego will be required.  Longer term, this position will be required to be on-site at the Naval Health Research Center a minimum of 2 days a week. 

Leidos is currently seeking a full-time Full Stack Developer who will support the Deployment Health Research Program at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and systems in support of scientific initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has the ability to plan and prioritize work and work independently. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work across the full platform stack (web/mobile front-end, server-side, scripting, and database systems) to implement features or improve our development workflow;

  • Build, test, maintain, and optimize web applications for survey research projects (participants surveys, public facing websites, intranet sites/utilities, etc.);

  • Attend meetings with appropriate employees or vendors to obtain necessary information and direction to proceed with the development and success of the project;

  • Review and understand business requirements and functional specifications;

  • Interpret and translate functional specifications into appropriate technical design using department standards;

  • Develop new functionality, themes or sites;

  • Modify existing software to meet staff requirements; maintain and modify code that is in production to comply with system changes and new specifications; debug existing code to ensure minimal user downtime and maintain maximum participant engagement;

  • Resolve emergency software problems; recognize errors and/or problems that require time sensitive research and resolution; integrate findings for identifying and resolving similar future problems in a timely and accurate manner;

  • Facilitate user acceptance testing with research team and address site/content/design feedback;

  • Document change control to build/design change control procedures;

  • Document lessons learned at the end of each website design project and partner with the project manager or web services lead to address feedback and improve the development process;

  • Ensure user documentation is up-to-date with changes to processes, new processes, and system design changes;

  • Maintain code integrity and organization; creating specifications and document best practices for all applications, libraries, and code being developed or updated

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role;

  • Proven experience performing Full Stack Web Development using PHP or similar web languages;

  • Expert understanding of database architecture and experience with MySQL and/or Microsoft SQL Server;

  • DevOps experience managing Linux and/or Windows environments;

  • Proven ability to write standards-compliant HTML/CSS/JavaScript utilizing modern frameworks such as Bootstrap or Tailwind CSS;

  • Experience with git version control software;

  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with investigators, vendors, and research staff

  • Excellent attention to detail, oral and written communications skills, organizational and workload management, interpersonal and team building skills

Due to federal contract restrictions, candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. We will assist any selected applicant in the process to obtain a secret clearance if they do not already have one. After package submission, it typically takes approximately four weeks for employees to be eligible to begin working.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $74,750.00 - $115,000.00 - $155,250.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
