The NISC IV program has an opening for an Aviation Analyst supporting the FAA. The position will be located in Oklahoma City, Ok. The Aviation Analyst will provide support to the FAA Aeronautical Information Services Group (AJV-5). Primary support for this position will be to the National Flight Data Team. Provides technical expertise to FAA Aeronautical Information Services Group and Service Area Flight Procedures Teams via maintaining and revising both the AIRNAV and NASR databases. Individuals in this position typically have an instrument flying background, which allows them to have a strong understanding as to how changes in the databases could impact flight procedures, etc. Duties will involve a wide range of functions: - Support the review, evaluation, and revision of current data contained in both databases. Determine the effect of proposed changes to procedures, fixes, and airport information such as altered or deactivated airports, NAVAID outages, etc. - Review aeronautical information released to confirm that air navigation information and technical data content is accurate and correct. - Initiate corrective action where discrepancies are discovered and coordinate as necessary with the Flight Procedures team, Flight Check, Air Traffic, Tech Ops, airports, and military organizations. If required, provide background information to FAA for the development of Notice to Airman (NOTAM). Other contacts include regional and field FAA offices, National Flight Data Center, military and airline representatives, state and local aviation officials, and aircraft and airport operators.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced instrument pilots that are not currently active and are looking to remain in the aviation industry. These positions have a direct impact on the safety of the National Airspace System and offer a great team environment working with the FAA to keep the NAS safe.
The candidate will have demonstrated experience in any of the following:
- Commercial Instrument Rated Pilot (Military or Civilian) with approximately 1000-1500 hours of experience (enough instrument flight experience to understand the impact of changes to procedures, etc.)
- Certified Instrument Flight Instructor with approximately 1000-1500 hours of experience. A strong understanding of instrument procedures is vital.
- Airspace and Procedures background (Instrument Flight Procedures)
- Air Traffic Control Experience (FAA, Contractor or Military)
- Previous experience with FAA or DoD terminal instrument procedures (TERPS).
A Bachelor’s degree Aeronautics, Aviation, or Air Traffic Control career field with or more years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for determining qualification.
Pay Range:Pay Range $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 - $135,000.00
