The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Systems Engineer to work at the customer site on Osan AB, ROK.  This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the PACAF C5ISRO II mission.  In this mission, we provide IT support to our PACAF customers throughout the Pacific Theater.

Primary Responsibilities

The data link engineer provides support for joint/multi data link networks (data links) at the tactical level within the Air Defense Squadron (ADS). The ADS provides inputs to the common tactical picture (CTP) supporting the Joint Force Air Component Commander (JFACC) CTP and the Combatant Commander’s (CCDR) Common Operational Picture (COP). In accordance with CJCSM 3115.01B, Joint Data Network (JDN) Operation, the joint data link network is comprised of several digital data networks, each of which is optimized to enable improved situational awareness and commander’s decision cycle. Information included in the CTP directly supports the Joint Task Force (JTF) assigned missions and is the JTF’s primary input to the CCDR’s COP. One of the primary systems supporting the CTP is the Multi TADAL Network (MTN). IAW CJCSM 6120.01D Joint Multi Tactical Data link (TDL) Operating Procedures, an MTN should be reliable, survivable, flexible, interoperable, timely, and secure. The concept of joint combat operations is supported by the exchange of tactical information between participants on a real-time or near-real-time basis with TDLs. The exchange of real-time tactical information between C2 systems, weapon systems, and intelligence systems provides mutual support, allows coordinated action, and prevents interference between interfaced forces for the efficient and effective application of military force. The candidate selected for this position will be the MTN expert and interface between the ADS, AOC, and other TDL participants. The individual will coordinate unit TDL equipment/network requirements, to include interfacing between unit, wing and higher-level agencies. The Contractor will obtain network descriptions and initialization data loads for all networks to include AF, joint and coalition networks and maintain them in a local TDL network library for use by operations personnel.

Basic Qualifications

This labor category requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems or related discipline. May substitute 3 years of relevant military datalink experience for required educational qualifications. Must have a minimum 3-5 years of experience working with datalink systems (10 years of experience required without a Bachelor’s degree). Completion of JT-102 Multi-Tactical Data Link Advanced Joint Interoperability Course is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of Link 16 Unit Manager Course (JT-220) or Multi-TDL Operations Planning Course, JF-201 is preferred. For the candidate to be fully successful knowledge of Engility JRE Client Software, Raytheon Solipsys BCS C2 software, Ultra Electronics ADSI Ultra 16 and TacView C2 software and Basic Linus Red Hat Enterprise is highly recommended. Operates and maintains Situation Awareness Data Link (SADL), Link-16, and Joint Range Extension Application Protocols (JREAP A, B, and C) beyond line of sight data link networks. Experience with Network Integration and protocols (IP, TCP, and UDP) highly recommended. Experience with Military LOS and SATCOM radios (MIDS LVT and PRC-117G or later models) highly recommended. Experience with debugging issues with hardware-in-the-loop recommended.

Pay Range $94,250.00 - $145,000.00 - $195,750.00
