The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking a Network Engineer to provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) located in Washington DC.
To meet the FAA’s IT objectives, the Network Engineer will:
- Analyze and assess equipment and performance degradation, to include packet analysis, determination of hardware, software, networking and/or other technical changes necessary to verify restoration of service and meet operational requirements.
- Troubleshoot network problems, identifying probable cause, taking corrective action, updating documentation and making written recommendations to prevent problems from recurring.
- Continuously monitor SolarWinds or other IT monitoring and management tools and proactively making recommendations to improve performance while resolving and/or preventing potential problems.
- Verify posture of the local area network (C3LAN) and all determining if all equipment on it adheres to OMB A-130, FISMA, and NIST 800 series along with other Federal mandates.
- Be responsive to the Network Program Manager providing recommendations and exploring options to improve the network performance and overall security.
- Support research and development, as well as, feasibility studies for future network buildouts, usage, and maintenance in a test environment for potential LAN use and application operations.
- Be available for potential on-call; after duty hours
- Program, troubleshoot, implement and maintain the fixed and deployable network systems to include but not limited to:
- Juniper EX Series Switches or comparable technology
- Juniper QFX Series, M Series, MX Series Routers or comparable technology
- Juniper QFX Series, M Series, MX Series Routers or comparable technology
- JUNOS Security
- Coordinate the engineering tools (Junos Space, Juniper Engineering Team and Management platform) necessary to perform a wide variety of activities
- Provide a bridge between C3LAN and the Juniper Networks (Direct Reach back)
- Assist and focus on network troubleshooting and operations support with network issue
- Analyze and complete required network configurations
- Assist with network inventory tracking and management to support the network
- Test Juniper Networks product features/or comparable technology and functionality
- Provide regular updates on work in progress and current issues
- Troubleshoot the network and supporting operations
- Develop network and equipment operating procedures
- Evaluate technical specifications for interoperability
- Assist in the ongoing definition of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the network and services
- Interface with the C3LAN network group
- Interface with the Security Engineering Branch to ensure that all Information Assurance concerns are validated
- Support the designated topology of the network to share and transfer knowledge
- Troubleshoot Internet Protocol (IP) based radio circuit distribution and multi path connectivity systems
- Operate and use the following test equipment in the troubleshooting and maintenance of IP based system and devices to include but not limited to; Multi-meter, RS-232/Cat-5 testers, RS-232/Cat-5 testers, Network service software, and fiber continuity tester
- Provide network assistance to the Communications Support Team in preparation for deployments of the Emergency Response Vehicle
- Support C3 LAN Team during Continuity of Operations (COOP) activities
- Provide Juniper and Cisco technical support to the C3 LAN team within the scope statement in accordance with direction from the ETO or C3 LAN Program Manager
Network Engineer Qualifications:
- Typically requires BS and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2+ years of prior relevant experience with Cisco Routers, Switches, ancillary network gear.
- Juniper (JUNOS) experience would be beneficial, but not required.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 - $135,000.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
