The Military and Veterans Health Solutions Operation of Leidos is seeking a Software Developer to support research programs aimed at improving the health and readiness of military populations. The Software Developer is responsible for writing and maintaining source code, creating and maintaining software applications and applying frameworks involved in a software release. Duties include computer programming, documenting, managing configuration, testing, and bug fixing involved in creating and maintaining applications and frameworks involved in a software release life cycle and resulting in a software product. The candidate will be responsible for working on projects led by the Warfighter Performance Department at the Naval Health Research Center and their collaborating partner institutions, requiring working knowledge of and ability to apply standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques of software programming for research projects.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Create and modify software applications with a focus on wounded warriors with traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, amputation, and other comorbidities using the Unity C# Suite.
Design and code Virtual and Augmented reality applications and designing User Interfaces (UI) for therapist end-users and other stakeholders.
Create and test novel rehabilitation applications for wounded warriors, innovate use of virtual reality for improvement in performance, conduct research to determine physical and cognitive performance of service members and beneficiaries, and create mobile testing and rehabilitation software programs that work in conjunction with research and clinical hardware systems.
Maintain substantial knowledge of industry-standard AR and VR devices, developing solid Object-Oriented code, receiving feedback, and collaborating with therapists for UI and application design, integrating biofeedback devices, and contributing to scientific literature and conferences.
Make recommendations about the technical and hardware needs for research programs.
Work to achieve day-to-day objectives with moderate impact on the research projects.
Work independently on larger, moderately complex projects related to AR/VR and application development for research programs and assist other technical staff with tasks and assignments.
Work effectively with a team of researchers and clinicians at the Naval Health Research Center, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Naval Medical Center San Diego, and other collaborating military, academic, and private institutions, communicating professionally and effectively with colleagues across multiple.
Explain technical solutions, practices and procedures to others within the various partnering organizations.
Develop standard operating procedures for research applications conducted within research protocols; apply research protocol requirements to project programs applications.
Travels domestically and internationally as required for project, program, and contract needs.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Programming, Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant field.
Two or more years of experience developing applications in a virtual and augmented reality environment for rehabilitation of human patients.
Technical understanding of virtual and augmented Reality equipment
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance
Able to travel locally, nationally, and internationally as needed for meetings and conferences
Ability to meet and maintain customer-site vaccination requirements.
Active Secret Clearance is preferred.
Experience with military populations and wounded warriors in a military treatment and/or research facility is preferred.

Pay Range:Pay Range $60,450.00 - $93,000.00 - $125,550.00
