Leidos has an opening for an International Space Station (ISS) Operations Lead. The Research Operations and Integration (ROI) Increment Operations Lead is the primary point of contact to the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) Payload Operations and Integration Center (POIC) Payload Operations Director (POD) and to the ROI Increment Lead for a given ISS research increment. In that role, the Operations Lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all of the Increment specific pre-flight preparation, strategy, and Task/Delivery Order operations deliverables for the ROI complement of spaceflight research experiments and hardware conducted and flown on a specific ISS Increment. This position also functions as the lead of the on-console operations team during on-orbit support and for coordination of pre-flight planning and post-flight reporting.
Primary Responsibilities
Leads the contractor real-time support team in the Telescience Support Center (TSC) consisting of the Payload Systems Engineers, Science support personnel, and principal investigators
Monitors ROI science activities on console to ensure science objectives are successfully.
Support console shifts (second and third shifts) in the Telescience Support Center (TSC) as required for ROI experiment sessions.
Primary ROI and contractor point of contact to the MSFC Payload Operations Director (POD) and the MSFC Payload Operations Manager (POM).
Primary POC to HRF Increment Lead for operations tasks and deliverables
Responsible for the Increment specific schedule of operations-related activities and deliverables required to plan, develop, integrate, implement, and document the results of the ISSMP complement of flight research flown on an ISS research increment
Coordinates troubleshooting activities if necessary, and works replans if objectives are not completed
Primary POC to HRP Increment Lead for operations tasks and deliverables.Responsible for the Increment specific schedule of operations-related activities and deliverables required to plan, develop, integrate, implement, and document the results of the ROI complement of flight research flown on an ISS research increment
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or science with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
Willingness and ability to work second and third console shifts in the Telescience Support Center (TSC) as required, for ROI experiment sessions.
Experience solving complex problems and working to develop solutions quickly
Ability to perform in highly visible and stressful situations
Demonstrated ability to lead high performing teams and to coordinate projects
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Human Research Program (HRP) goals, objectives, and processes
Previous console operations experience; familiarity with Human Life Science goals, objectives, and processes
Must be able to pass a Public Trust background investigation. Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident due to length investigation for non-U.S. persons.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $74,750.00 - $115,000.00 - $155,250.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
