As a NS&D Intel Portfolio Test Engineer you will be responsible for interfacing with diverse teams to support agile development efforts and Customer stakeholders to design, create and execute tests; requiring the ability to effectively communicate with all members of the team, ranging from technical personnel to program leadership. This includes executing tests across a variety of software products and network & infrastructure configurations.
Responsibilities of this position also includes planning, monitoring, and coordinating IV&V tasks. IV&V services to be provided include the review of all project artefacts, analysis of product development processes, code review gate reviews, meeting support, and all testing as required for VETSNET and BGS.
The Test Engineer will work under the supervision of the Technical Lead and Project Manager and will participate in the activities of engineering test solutions and developing test assets based upon customer requirements. These activities will consist of, but not limited to, estimating and planning test activities, developing, executing, documenting, maintaining, and archiving test assets. The Test Engineer will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
Identify and distil functional requirements from complex specification documents
Develop formal test assets including Mapped Requirements Documents, Requirements Traceability Matrices, and Test Procedures
Design SQL queries to obtain or update data
Design and develop UNIX based automated test scripts
Design and develop SQL queries and/or PL/SQL procedures to be used for automated testing
Execute UNIX based automated test scripts and PL/SQL procedures
Perform results analysis required to validate functional behaviour conforms to requirements
Create test execution log files with verifiable objective evidence that functional behaviour conforms to requirements
Work interactively with VBA development staff to reach consensus regarding defects
Create defect records that clearly describe non-conforming functional behaviour
Reviewing of requirements and design documents to generate Test Cases including identifying test data and defining test environment needs
Creating and reviewing test plans and test designs, working with third party suppliers to ensure requirements coverage.
Creating, reviewing and optimizing Testing Processes.
Preparation and Execution of Test Cases to fully functionally test across the software, network and infrastructure solution stack at all levels
Preparation and Execution of Test Cases to test the system and verify safety, security, resilience, service management and other non-functional requirements
Producing Test Reports and report on interim progress
Documenting of test results and any defects
Reporting progress, risks & issues to Team Leads
Investigating issues and working with suppliers to identify root cause and resolution
Analysing data and test evidence from suppliers to show compliance to requirements
Required Skills:
BSc from an accredited institution of higher learning in a Computer Science, Information Systems, and Engineering, Business or other related discipline
Software testing experience
Experience and working knowledge of UNIX based automated testing techniques, SQL queries, and PL/SQL procedures
Experience and working knowledge of testing tools such as JIRA
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Strong test experience, ideally a period of which is in systems and\or integration testing of IT solutions
Demonstrable Testing experience with IT Infrastructure, including ensuring security controls have been correctly applied and configurations have been correctly applied to network components
Excellent understanding of the Testing Lifecycle and the different types of testing such as Functional and Integration Testing.
Demonstrable Systems Integration experience including integrating 3rd party systems or components.
Experience of creating Test Cases based on requirements and design documents.
Experience of both manual and automated testing and how to apply these to IT application and infrastructure solutions
Familiarity with agile software development processes and products (release and sprint planning, product backlog management/refinement, retrospectives, etc.) and SecDevOps
Strong oral and written communication skills – ability to communicate with technical and non-technical team members.
Self-motivated and willing to speak to colleagues to find out missing information;
Ability to identify, troubleshoot and debug issues across interfaces;
Ability to analyse and review test evidence from suppliers;
Enthusiastic, proactive, troubleshooting attitude with a willingness to learn new technologies
Good time management and organisational skills – ability to work with minimal supervision and direct others to do the same.
