The Government Health and Safety Operation is currently seeking a Sr. Technical Writer to support a healthcare contract.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Write and edit program and project technical and end-user-audience documents, including procedures, processes, functional descriptions, release documents, system specifications, reports, manuals, training, presentations, and other program deliverables to meet contract requirements.
Effectively communicate with document authors during the editing process and, when necessary, interview technical staff to obtain additional information required for the documentation.
Develop drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and management ensuring that final documents meet customer needs and applicable contract requirements. Prepare, submit, and track selected documents through the customer’s documentation approval process.
Track the development and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and semiannual contract deliverables and others as specified; perform technical edits and support quality reviews. Act as lead tech editor for complex contract deliverables. Archive contract deliverables.
Ensure documents meet editorial and government specifications and adhere to defined customer and program standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style. Will work independently and in teams. Train new technical editors on processes and documentation tools. Adhere to government quality assurance procedures. Support the team lead.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Extensive hands-on experience with documentation tools including Microsoft Word (i.e., advanced features such as creating templates and styles) and PowerPoint.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Self-motivated, creative, organized, and able to accomplish tasks with limited supervision. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Excellent written communication and grammatical skills. Strong attention to detail is critical.
Experience working directly with technical SMEs. Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams. Must be a proactive team player who can readily switch priorities when necessary.
PREFERRED SKILLS: Intermediate hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft SharePoint. Experience with using plain language guidelines and adhering to Section 508 accessibility standards. SAFe Agile training.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience in technical writing and editing or Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience. Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
All candidates supporting the HHS programs must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years prior in order to be considered.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $72,150.00 - $111,000.00 - $149,850.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
