Job Description:
Leidos is looking for a Sr. Database Systems Administrator to support a program at a Government site in Springfield, VA. The candidate will lead database efforts and influence the development and direction of work within the organization. They will work independently to achieve critical mission objectives necessary to continue smooth operations for the customer and any other internal and external support within the contract. Routinely collaborate with different internal and external customers and other experts to develop technical solutions to problems that are complex, not always immediately identifiable, while meeting mission objectives in a timely fashion. Will be considered a subject matter expert for all systems at the customer site.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with System Administrator team in providing support to the customer and developing solutions to meet the objectives described by the customer.
Migrate data, schema, and code from source databases and ensuring data quality and integrity.
Database security and performance tuning and optimization.
Liaise directly with customers, resolving database, systems, and infrastructure related issues, and providing systems architecture leadership.
Analyze issues holistically, from the application tier through the database and down to the storage layer.
Lead database activities, planning, assigning, and tracking task progress.
Analysis and evaluation system databases with primary knowledge requirements of information processing methodology, information technology, computer capabilities, and processing techniques.
Daily operation and problem resolution of server/systems, operating systems, and application maintenance tasks on the database servers for proactive monitoring such as space usage, deleting log files, dump files, error correcting.
Install, configure, maintain, document, and administer Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, mission software and any Oracle/Postgres related products to provide optimum performance and system availability.
Troubleshoot and resolve database and system related incidents detected during database and system monitoring or reported by users.
Troubleshoot database and system connectivity and back up issues.
Manage, migrate, and debug mission application software as applied to Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
Conduct random health checks on the databases and prepare performance reports.
Work across IT functional boundaries (i.e., other system, administrators, Storage administrators, network administrators, database administrators).
Basic Qualifications:
TS/SCI with ability to obtain a Polygraph.
Security+ certification.
BS in IT field and 12+ years of DBA experience or Masters and 10+ years of DBA experience.
Expert experience with Oracle 19C or higher and PostgreSQL databases.
Working knowledge of Linux and Windows based systems.
Must be detail-oriented and comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to produce high performance work products with limited supervision but must also work well in a collaborative, team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with MS Windows Server 2019 and MS Windows 10.
Experience with MS Access database.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $101,400.00 - $156,000.00 - $210,600.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
