Job Description:
The Homeland Security Solutions Operation within Leidos seeks a Biometrics Systems Engineer with strong biometrics and systems engineer experience to support a complex program. You will support the full system engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, testing, documentation, and implementation, following defined best practices and operational procedures.
This program provides Agile development, operations, and maintenance for critical systems on a mission-critical program supporting the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The PSPD organization supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CBP critical missions, specifically screening and processing travelers at the ports of entry (POEs) into the United States.
Primary Responsibilities:
Experience with integrating commercial software tools and APIs for custom application development.
Expertise knowledge of biometrics standards.
Interface with project team members using Agile SCRUM and SAFe frameworks to deliver features that enhance system capabilities and facilitate CBP’s mission.
Ability to architect new biometric solutions while leveraging leading edge technologies to be at the forefront of thought leadership in the field.
Experience with research, including developing, designing, and executing research plans.
Basic Qualifications:
Applicants must be a US Citizen with ability to acquire customer specific background Investigation prior to start.
BA/BS degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience OR Master's degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience; OR 4 years of experience in lieu of degree
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
8 or more years of experience in the following areas:
Experience with biometric concepts and designing algorithms.
Developing features in computer vision, image processing, or machine learning.
Experience with using computer vision or machine learning libraries.
Knowledge of standard biometric algorithms for multiple modalities, with a strong focus on facial recognition.
Experience with facial biometric toolsets.
Ability to generate scientific data from various datasets and generate custom analysis reports.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active CBP BI.
BS degree in STEM program
Experience/Understanding of OBIM IDENT/HART programs with IXM service
Experience on AWS, CI/CD, SecDevOps is a plus.
Experience developing algorithms for biometrics.
Worked in Agile environment.
Ability to drive change based on trends collected from System and User base.
Mobile App Support is a plus.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $94,250.00 - $145,000.00 - $195,750.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
