Security Engineer
We are in search of a Security Engineer for our Leidos engineering capability. The successful Engineer will have a full understanding of the principles of systems engineering, and will have a keen interest, qualifications or prior security engineering experience. You will work within an embedded customer site on a major programme working to both internal and external stakeholders.

As a Security Engineer in Leidos you will be working on one of our key programs delivering support on a complex and ever changing MOD system. You will be working on a system that is directly involved in ensuring the National Security of the UK.
What you will do
Leidos requires an experienced engineer with broad IT experience in servers and networks wanting to move into a more security focussed role. Responsibilities will include installing, configuring, upgrading and managing applications and hardware that provide security controls for an IT network.
Particular knowledge of:
Security best practices (e.g. CIS Critical Controls, OWASP)
Event logging (preferable experience with Syslog and Windows event logs management)
Microsoft (2016, 2019) AD and Group Policy
Access Control (Microsoft permissions and Cisco ACLs)
Familiarity with Antivirus products (Symantec, Sophos, TrendMicro or McAfee)
Backup solutions procedures and policies.
Patch rollout (COTS products such as Microsoft Windows)
Desire to move into technical security management
Bonus Skills
Firewall (Cisco, Palo Alto) and VPN configurations
CompTIA Security+, EC Council Certified Ethical Hacker or similar entry level security certifications.
Vulnerability management experience – Vulnerability scanning and remediation (tools such as Nessus, Nexpose or OpenVAS)
Experience with Patch rollout systems like ManageEngine Desktop Central.
Experience in configuring and managing a SIEM (e.g. ArcSight, Splunk)
CCNA or Microsoft Server certifications
Location: This role will be based in Herefordshire, with very occasional travel to other sites.
Clearance Required:
