Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a Technical Writer Co-op to collaborate as part of a team of engineers to put our best foot forward on paper for an unmanned autonomous ship project. Our customers want us to explain how our complex systems work, and we need someone who can effectively document our system architecture and approaches.
You’ll be working as part of an integrated Scrum team, a team that’s collaborating to build systems to control unmanned ships. As we work through each Sprint, you’ll take responsibility for interviewing others on the team and working together to find the words to capture what we’ve done. You will write and edit technical documents, including business proposals, reports, user manuals, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other documents to communicate with our management and our customers.
* This is full-time co-op opportunity starting Jan 2023 for students enrolled in degree program and able to work onsite in Arlington, VA. Must be available to work co-op for at least 6 months.
Basic Qualifications:
Pursuing degree in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, English, Technical Writing, or other technical or communications related fields.
US citizenship as well as eligibility to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Desired:
Technical writing specific background or a background in technical documentation
Familiarity with programming
Familiarity with Unified Modeling Language (UML)
Familiarity with Microsoft Viso, MagicDraw, or Enterprise Architect
Pay Range:
Pay Range $42,250.00 - $65,000.00 - $87,750.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
