More About the Role:
Leidos is seeking a Network Engineer to support related efforts for SMIT, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, the Leidos team will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network.  The successful candidate will support network engineering for voice, video, and data communications (such as BAN/LAN/WLAN/WAN, cross domain solutions, communications security, and piers connectivity) in the NMCI network.

What You'll Get to Do:
The Network Engineer will proactively contribute to the analysis, design, planning and ongoing support to NMCI transport areas.

Responsibilities include:
•Serve as a technical expert for vendor solutions and for engineering support solutions and products related to transport.
•Perform reach back into vendor research, development, and technical support teams to ensure effective design and application in the production environment. 
•Perform solution development and engineering work for networking/transport.
•Participate in the planning of upgrades, replacement, configuration, and maintenance of networking/transport projects.
•Engineer solutions that provide secure, effective and efficient operation of systems, architecture, and topology for transport.
•Participate in new and existing IT modernization, expansion, and improvement projects related to transport for the NMCI network.
•Collaborate with technical experts to synthesize solutions related to transport.
•Lead analysis, review, and validation with customers, stakeholders, and team members for NMCI projects and changes related to transport.
•Significant collaboration and coordination with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines.
•Comply with ITSM processes and procedures, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) governance, and Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239.
•Support development and maintenance of engineering processes, checklists, and procedures for transport.
•Mentor and review the work of junior team members.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
-Requires B.S. Degree and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 10 years of prior relevant experience (in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university).
•Eight (8) or more years’ experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
•Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active Secret clearance to start the program.
•Technical knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas: BAN/LAN/WLAN/WAN, cross domain solutions, communications security, and piers connectivity.
•Experience working in large information technology enterprise environments designing/architecting networks.
•Hands-on experience in working with DoD networks.
•Experience in collaborating with other enterprise technologists both internal and external to resolve complex technical issues.
•Strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team.
•Ability to multi-task, self-assign work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
•Travel may be required.
•Security+ or other applicable certification to meet DoD 8570 requirements for IAT-2.
•Ability to obtain CISSP or other applicable certification to meet DoD 8750 IAT-3.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
•Experience working on DoD programs, specifically Navy programs
•Certifications:
    -CCNA/CCNP.
    -INCOSE CSEP.
    -ITIL. 
    -CISSP.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,900.00 - $126,000.00 - $170,100.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
