We are looking for a Data Quality Engineer with strong database skills who is looking to push the limits and be an integral part of rebuilding our data transformation and ingestion pipelines. This role will be a key contributor to the validation of the new systems that will accelerate the distribution of data to our customers. The candidate will be working closely with the wider architecture, and software engineering teams in a fast-paced, fast growth environment. The Data Quality Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, documenting, reporting and performing data quality checks across all data assets. That includes ETL jobs, reports, dashboards and data pipelines. The primary goal for this role is to ensure high quality of data delivered to internal stakeholders and customers. Validation of data in data repositories against data from source systems and validation of metrics and data in reports/dashboards against data in the repositories and alerting bad data to stake holders is a key responsibility. As the enterprise data needs grow, there is a growing focus on data governance. The DQE will play a key role in this process and will help to create guidance, controls and procedures for data management that will help LPDH verify the accuracy of incoming data or flagging issues that need to be addressed by human reviewers or machine learning models. Principle responsibilities are to making data assets consistently accurate for users.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Develop standards for data quality and ensure that these standards are followed throughout the organization

  • Identify critical data elements and relationships (CDE)

  • Implement system controls and data quality monitoring requirements

  • Recommend new data collection methods or technologies as need to improve data quality

  • Investigate performance/capacity threshold breaches and changes in trends

  • Partner with source systems and project teams to address root causes of issues

  • Work in conjunction with Developers and Data Engineers to ensure high quality Data Deliverable

  • Working with the development teams from different groups in the organization, help identify inconsistent data patterns, and how they are manifested from the source processes.

  • Analyze source data and prepare glossary and metadata.

  • Experience in defining Data Lineage and creating Data Catalogue.

  • Experience in Data Profiling, Standardization, Parsing, Identity resolution, Record Linage and Merging, Data cleansing, Data enhancement, Data Inspection and Monitoring.

  • Experience in building and validating Business Intelligence Reports.

  • Experience with various data quality tools preferably Open Source.

  • Design, implement and use data quality assurance frameworks to support the process of identifying inconsistent data patterns.

  • Write DB scripts to validate data in the data repositories against the data in the source systems

  • Perform root cause analysis of data quality issues and define mitigation plan to fix.

  • Track, monitor and document testing results

  • Analyze complex data systems to develop automated and reusable solutions for extracting requested information while assuring data validity and integrity

  • Perform tasks spanning the full lifecycle of data management activities with minimal supervision

    • Assist with clarification of functional and non-functional requirements.

    • Use bug tracking systems to submit, track and manage defects.

    • Analyze test results and provide meaningful reports to project team.

    • Maintain software testing artifacts

    • Use queries to create test data and analyze results.

    • Initiate process and execution improvements for the DQA phases of the SDLC.

    • Mentor less experienced team members.

    • Fill QA lead role on a stream and/or perform direct line manager role for a small team.

    • Reproduce and analyze clients' issues.

    • Perform detailed project planning and project management support including work breakdown structure, estimates, status reporting and project closeout specific to testing.

FACTORS FOR SUCCESS

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science and Information Systems, Database Management, Big Data, Data Engineering, Data Science, Applied Math, etc.

  • 5+ years of professional data analytics working experience. Experience with automotive data is a plus.

  • Experience with any of the BI tools like Holistics, Metabase, Power BI, Looker, Tableau, DashboardFox, etc.

  • 5+ years of experience with database software (SQL, Google Bigquery, etc), in writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures and ETL in Java.

  • 2+ years of experience working with large data and variety of data sources.

  • Experience working in virtualized cloud environment including cloud-based IaaS/SaaS/PaaS solutions.

  • Understanding of ETL methodologies and Data Warehousing principles, approaches, technologies, and architectures including the concepts, designs, and usage of data warehouses and data marts.

  • Knowledge of data warehousing, OLAP, multi-dimensional, star and snowflake schemas

  • Knowledge and experience with database design principles including referential integrity, normalization, and indexing to support application development.

  • Strong understanding and experience in development activities for all aspects of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

    • Experience on a team that uses agile processes, including SCRUM, Continuous Build and Integration, etc.; suggests and implements process improvements

    • Experience with a wide range of QA methodologies

    • Strong understanding of Web-based technology architecture and data structures

    • Experience leading test plan development

    • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and/or fill lead QA role

    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

    • Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills as well as attention to detail

    • Critical thinking skills to analyze system business and technical requirements for ambiguities and discrepancies

    • Aptitude for thinking outside the box to develop and execute thorough test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, test cases and test scripts

    • Investigate a defect, isolate its probable cause, provide a reliable method for reproducing it.

    • Excellent understanding of the QA processes, methodologies and Software Testing Lifecycle

    • Experience planning artefacts that support the implementation of shift-left testing and white box/grey box testing objectives

    • Strong database skills

    • Experience building automation test frameworks

    • Knowledge of financial concepts

    • Excellent understanding of QA testing tools and environments.

    • Extensive knowledge of architectures and technical standards

Pay Range:

Pay Range $74,750.00 - $115,000.00 - $155,250.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
