Job Description:

Leidos is seeking an Infrastructure & Operations Assistant Manager to support the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). The Infrastructure & Operations Assistant Manager aid the I&O Manager with year-round management of Station Operations at McMurdo, South Pole, and Palmer Stations, operational traverses, along with near and deep field camps. This individual should be excited about problem solving and have a successful history of doing so. They should also be able to effectively communicate and collaborate across multiple functions and interact with our customer, employees, and other United States Antarctic Program (USAP) agencies at various levels.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the I&O Manager in developing annual labor and material budgets for Station Operations functional areas, which include Vehicle Maintenance, Equipment Operations, Fleet Management, Traverse Operations, Fuels, Airfield Management, Firehouse, Central Communications, Waste Operations and hospitality functions: food service, lodging, janitorial, recreation, beverage, retail, and postal operations. 

  • Assist the I&O Manager, in conjunction with Area managers, in developing and maintaining long range plans for Station Operations departments in terms of programs, personnel, facilities, equipment and supplies.

  • Utilize Primavera to monitor actual progress against planned schedules and issues reports in accordance with ASC procedures.

  • Liaise frequently with other functional and area managers to review schedules and projects.  Able to understand financial trends and provide corrective actions as necessary to maintain fiscal health throughout the year. 

  • Develop and review standard operating procedures to ensure they are up to date with each geographical location.

  • Provide technical and administrative continuity for ASC Operations at Antarctic stations by maintaining historical and current files and monitoring progress on a year-to-year basis.

  • Leverage computerized maintenance management system (Maximo) to store and manage all operational data points to include maintenance, work activities, asset lifecycle management, etc. 

  • Implement and enforce ASC's Environmental Health & Safety, and Quality Assurance programs. Ensure subordinate employees and teammates are trained to understand Environmental Health & Safety, and Quality Assurance, requirements and goals. 

  • Comply with applicable safety, environment, health, and waste management policies and procedure.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree  in Construction Management, Civil Engineering and/or Business Administration or related area is preferred. Additional years of experience in a supervisory or management role, and/or relevant certifications will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • A minimum of 4 years of diversified experience in operations management, preferably in fields requiring practical knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance, operations and maintenance with desired experience civil construction including, airport runways, aprons and taxiways. 

  • Career record must include the demonstrated ability to work with and independently manage a multiple skilled work force and strong financial background, including at least four years of supervisory and management experience.

  • Must be a highly motivated self-starting team player with effective written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong work ethic and willing to work cross functionally to complete assigned tasks.

  • Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Certification and Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification strongly desired.

U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residence is required.

Deployment is required in this position at discretion of management. If required, the individual in the position must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations, and psychological examination for winter-over positions, as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action.

Must be able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,900.00 - $126,000.00 - $170,100.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
