Job Description:
Leidos currently has an opening for an experienced Machinist who enjoys working in a vibrant and challenging research and development environment. You will work with fellow Leidos Team members in machine shop near Kirtland AFB developing cutting edge directed energy systems.
If you like to operate manual lathes and mills, while working with technicians and engineers to design components, and interpreting SolidWorks design drawings then this could be the job for you! If you have good machine skills, are motivated, have time-management skills and work well with others we want you on our Team.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Operate manual mills and lathes.
• Work with various types plastics and metals
• Assist technicians and engineers in designing components.
• Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand requirements.
• Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
• Select appropriate machines and position or load material for a job.
• Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues.
• Check output to ensure consistency with requirements.
• Perform routine machine maintenance.
Basic Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 10+ years of applicable experience
• Ability to obtain a DoD secret security clearance
• Proven experience and skill as a machinist
• Experience in using and/or programming manual and semi-automated tools and machines (lathes, mills, etc.)
• Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers, micrometers) to take accurate measurements
• Knowledge of the properties of metals and other materials
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
Preferred Qualifications:
• Completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship
• Active DoD security clearance
• Welding skills
Pay Range:
Pay Range $52,650.00 - $81,000.00 - $109,350.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
