Job Description:

Leidos is seeking a highly dynamic individual to join as a Senior Application Engineer on our SSA ITSSC II program.  This individual will be responsible for analyzing and enhancing applications to support Enterprise Architecture (EA) target architectures. This individual will work with the Enterprise Architecture Innovation Staff (EAIS) to gather information on existing applications to determine if they are in line with the agency’s architectural direction.  This individual will provide recommendations, level of efforts, and plans necessary to bring non-compliant applications into compliance.

This individual will perform development support for applications requiring enhancements. Drawing from their extensive knowledge and experience in software engineering, this individual will provide advice and guidance on developing and implementing application roadmaps, crosscutting solutions and patterns, and standardized use of reference technologies. This individual will require the ability to communicate at both the executive level clearly and concisely in the form of weekly status reports, briefings, and presentations, as well as assisting agency employee with learning and enhancing their analysis and development skills relevant to the tasking.

Foundation for Success (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 8 years of experience or 15 years of related industry experience. 
  • Experience in an Agile development team, preferably Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of software development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with Software design practices and development methodologies
  • Experience with development drameworks: Including but not limited to Hibernate, Spring Ecosystem, Angular.js, jQuery
  • Experience with programming Languages: Including but not limited to Java, J2EE, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, R, Bash Scripting, NodeJS

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

  • Gather information on existing applications to determine if they are in line with the agency’s architectural direction.
  • Assess and document whether or not applications are in compliance with the agency’s architectural direction providing a recommendation on how to make them compliant.
  • Assess and document the level of effort necessary to make non-compliant applications compliant with the agency’s architectural direction.
  • Develop a plan to make non-compliant applications compliant with the agency’s architectural direction.
  • Provide development support for applications needing to make enhancements in order to become compliant with the agency’s architectural direction.
  • Present information to SSA Executives and Staff.
  • Provide training and mentoring services to assist agency employees with learning and enhancing their analysis and development skills as they relate to the task.
  • Provide advice and guidance on developing and implementing application roadmaps
  • Provide advice and guidance on crosscutting solutions and patterns
  • Collaboration with agency resources to promote standardized use of reference technologies.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $94,250.00 - $145,000.00 - $195,750.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
