Job Description:

Today, Electronic Warfare (EW) is a growing enterprise - protecting the warfighter and our national security against ever-adapting threats. The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) at Leidos currently has an opening for a senior software engineer, software task lead to support an exciting new program in San Diego which utilizes novel machine learning concepts and techniques to advance the state of the art.  You will lead a team of software developers to implement advanced signal processing and machine learning algorithms and develop operational software.

The selected individual will lead software development activities. This includes developing new software solutions to interface with new and existing RF hardware.  He/she is expected to perform the full range of task lead functions to include developing new software engineering concepts/methodologies, implementing complex signal processing/machine learning algorithms, testing and deploying a real-time operational prototype system.  The selected individual will be responsible for using sound software engineering principles to ensure that developed code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, fault tolerant, and reusable, including providing software process management and control throughout the coding portion of the software development process.

Regular tasks will include:

Leading a team of 4-5 software engineers and managing software implementation plan

Attending regular customer meetings and leading technical discussions/program reviews 

Developing test plans and documentation to support lab and field tests/demonstrations

Designing, implementing, and testing real-time C/C++ software for multi-core systems running Linux or a real-time operating system

Implementing advanced signal processing and machine learning algorithms for processing large volumes of RF data

Optimizing software for high-volume data analysis, real-time processing throughput, and robust performance on advanced hardware platforms.

Programming in languages such as MATLAB, C/C++, Python

Analyzing existing algorithms and software to develop improvements in fidelity, sensitivity, and efficiency

Providing robust, scalable, configured software solutions in full-stack software development and deployment environments

Designing, implementing, and testing software to interface with RF hardware devices

Basic Qualifications

B.S. degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or M.S. degree with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience.

Must be able to work onsite in our San Diego office.

Secret clearance with ability to obtain top secret clearance

Demonstrated experience in leading software development efforts

Significant experience and proficiency in C/C++, Python, MATLAB languages, MATLAB GPU computing

Experience with Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence algorithms and libraries, such as TensorFlow

Must be able to plan and prioritize tasking for self and team members

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Must be an independent thinker, capable of performing high quality work, both independently and with a team in a fast-moving environment

Advanced knowledge of the Linux operating system as well as experience with real-time operating systems

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as principal investigator/program technical lead with oversight of high-level requirements management including requirements decomposition, systems engineering, and integration and test

Strong understanding of machine learning frameworks, RF front end design, and signal processing algorithm development

Background in high performance computing implementations for signal detection and feature classification

Experience working in areas of modeling and simulation (M&S), radar, adaptive radar, signals processing, algorithm development, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) or similar fields

Pay Range:

Pay Range $118,300.00 - $182,000.00 - $245,700.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
