Job Description:

More About the Role:
This Systems Engineering (SE) opportunity on the U.S. Navy’s Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) will allow participation on a high-visibility DoD program that provides engineering support to the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), the largest information technology (IT) network in the world.  This position will provide many opportunities to challenge and grow your skills as a Systems Engineer.

A successful candidate will use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, the System Modeling Language (SysML), and the Object-Oriented Systems Engineering Methodology, tailored for the SMIT Project to build the Naval Enterprise Network (NEN) model. This modeling will achieve the goal of creating, maintaining, updating, modernizing, and refreshing the capabilities and components of NMCI. This position is a member of a small, well-connected, and dynamic team that is responsible for providing the core competency for MBSE, SysML, MBSE processes, and Cameo Systems Modeler (CSM) and other MBSE Tool Suites across the entire SMIT program. This candidate is expected to be hands-on within the model and MBSE tools.

The candidate will utilize an agile MBSE approach that provides rigor, repeatability, and flexibility to support the needs of stakeholders, including our customer and the SMIT team.  This position will apply MBSE methods to create and manage the NEN System Model, using SysML and aligned with the NAVWAR EA Profile, enabling support of all SE use cases across the systems engineering lifecycle to realize the full projected value of MBSE.

The effective candidate will create, mature, and maintain Service-level and System-level Requirements within CSM by following a structured process.  This includes using the CSM tool to create all relevant Derived, Refined, Verified, and Satisfied relationships to the other elements within the NEN model.  The Candidate will also use CSM to build abstract, logical High-Level Design (HLD) architecture of the System as well as implementation-specific, physical, detailed Low-Level Design architecture of the Solution.  In order to build and maintain the Requirements and Architecture, the successful Candidate will need to engage and collaborate directly with Leidos Domain Architects and other Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) regularly to ensure that the NEN model is accurate.

What You'll Get to Do:
-Develop and manage the System model to support technical analyses for system and subsystem elements- developing technical solutions and decomposing a solution into system-level requirements.
-Develop models of system requirements, architecture/design, interfaces, behaviors, and simulations using No Magic’s Cameo Systems Modeler (CSM) and suite.
-Create, maintain, and deliver accurate and robust Requirement Traceability Matrices, within the CSM NEN Model, and conduct informal and formal peer-reviews with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that deliverables meet the Governance Team and SMIT standards.
-Create, maintain, and deliver accurate and robust High-Level Designs, within the CSM NEN Model, and conduct informal and formal peer-reviews with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that deliverables meet the Governance Team and SMIT standards.
-Create, maintain, and deliver accurate and robust Low-Level Designs, within the CSM NEN Model, and conduct informal and formal peer-reviews with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that deliverables meet the Governance Team and SMIT standards.
-Develop foundational model elements, connections, structures, and behaviors, which are utilized to assess the impacts and implications of future model changes.
-Translate systems engineering processes from traditional document-based system engineering efforts to delivery of model-based work products to customers as required.
-Be an ambassador for MBSE by being able to speak to the benefits of this approach as compared to the DSEM process.
-Collaborate and coordinate with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines to accomplish project activities.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
-Requires B.S. Degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
-Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
-Familiarity of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices.
-An interest in developing a knowledge of Systems Engineering methods, tools, and frameworks to develop specifications and designs of commercial and/or DoD systems/components.
-Able to synthesize knowledge from multiple domains and apply the information to new, basic problems.
-An interest in developing a knowledge of Systems Engineering fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments.
-Capable of collaborating with both internal and external technical professionals to resolve basic issues.
-Must be able to work collaboratively and remotely in a team environment.
-Communication skills to lead discussions and interaction with Government customers, colleagues, and senior leadership.
-Some travel may be required (post COVID).

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
-Possess a Secret security clearance.
-Experience working on integrated teams, assisting other engineers and disciplines with moderate supervision.
-Familiarity in developing and/or maturing system-level requirements.
-Knowledge of Systems Engineering tools such as:
-No Magic’s Cameo Systems Modeler, Collaborator, Teamwork Cloud.
