What you’ll be doing:

Based at our Wickford manufacturing facility the Stores Person/Inspector will be responsible for completing all goods “in and out” duties and inspections as they arrive and ultimately leave the premises and carrying out continuous quality checks against the manufacturing drawings as items are passing through the goods in department during the manufacture of components, products and assembly fixtures for the automotive and industrial automation industries. Working as part of a larger manufacturing team you will work on all stages of stores and quality inspections.

Key responsibilities will also include

Material Handling ensuring:

  • All Material delivered to Leidos Industrial Engineers is identified by its unit detail or number and contained within the holding area awaiting booking in.

  • All material received must be booked in using the Leidos Stock system.

  • All corresponding paperwork including delivery notes must be given to Administration.

  • All material must be checked to ensure the order is correct, not damaged, correct grade and measured where necessary.

  • Ensure that any parts or material that are leaving site for further processes are booked out and booked in.

  • Any parts or material that are leaving site for further processes are sample masked if necessary.

● Bought Out Parts:

  • All bought out parts must be booked in on the Leidos Stock list system.

  • Ensure all bought in parts are inspected for quality and quantity.

  • All bought out parts once booked in are put together as kits and stored within the Workshop with identification signs.

  • All corresponding paperwork must be given to the relevant department.

  • Packing, documentation and Shipping of products.

  • Inform the Workshop Manager if there are any issues preventing you completing your duties.

  • Positively promote the best interests of Leidos Industrial Engineers at all times.

  • Housekeeping (clean, efficient and safe work place)

  • Assist in the loading/unloading of delivery vehicles.

  • Ensuring all storage areas within the Workshop are kept clean and tidy.

About you:

You’ll have a track record in “hands on” experience in a stores/quality inspection in a manufacturing environment and demonstrable industry knowledge using engineering principles to provide efficient solutions for the inward storage and final dispatch of machine engineered, precision components, coupled with experience of:

  • Checking Inspection check sheets are being done correctly.

  • Ensuring stage inspections are carried out and documented where necessary.

  • Ensuring final inspections are carried out and documented.

  • Feed back any quality issues from the prototype to design.

  • Collaboration with the Design team and Project managers to ensure that Leidos products have been inspected to the correct measurements and tolerances.

  • All CMM results are clearly named and stored in the F drive under CMM results data.

Although the role is to be based from our Wickford hub, the successful candidate may be required to regularly travel to other locations within the UK and worldwide, therefore a valid passport and full driving licence is mandatory.
