The Radio Frequency In-Transit Visibility (RF-ITV) Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for keeping current on emerging technologies; providing technical engineering direction; facilitating the Systems Engineering Requirements, Design, and Test process activities; managing the sustainment of the system interface control documents; supporting application and operating system testing; participating in various engineering review boards; and ensuring application availability compliance. This position functions in daily coordination with the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager, Chief Systems Engineer, Systems Engineering Manager, Configuration Manager, the Systems/Database Administration team, Software Sustainment/Development team, the Testing team, the Engineering Lab Management team, the Cyber Security team, Global Operations team, and the Reporting team.
This position has the ability to work remote 70% of the time.
Research and evaluate system functions and provide technical leadership/direction to the Engineering and System Administration support staff to ensure successful project results.
Provide ongoing authorship and maintenance of the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and the Software Development Plan (SDP).
Provide technical input to Software Release Plan by reviewing the current work backlog of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and with the development teams, determine the level of effort for each change proposal.
Prioritize ECPs into logical groupings for completion within an allotted release schedule timeline and propose the release plan to the Systems Engineering Manager for subsequent customer discussion and approvals.
Develop and maintain the system Interface Control Documents (ICDs) in coordination with the Customer for subsequent coordination and approval with all external interface stakeholders.
Chair the internal and external customer Systems Engineering Requirements, Design, and Test (RDT) process for each software release and make solution recommendations to the Engineering teams and the Customer Team Lead to support required application functionality.
Support internal and external customer Engineering Review Board (ERB) and Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, and in preparation for these meetings, review and comment on work products and documentation.
Provide technical input during Engineering, System/Database, and Software Development meetings to ensure successful integration of system components.
Provide engineering input to the monthly In-Process Review (IPR) management briefings.
Recommend engineering analysis of alternatives to mitigate program risks and provide system engineering input to the Risk and Opportunity Management Board reviews.
Monitor all installed system software and infrastructure components and ensure Application Availability Service Level Objective (SLO) compliance for the NIPR and SIPR enclave services.
Exhibit competent working knowledge of Microsoft Windows client operating systems to include the ability to troubleshoot and repair Government Furnished PC hardware on occasion.
Perform security scans to maintain security compliance for the hardened Secure Host Baseline Army variant of the Windows Client operating system and associated upgrades.
Recommend hardware and COTS software upgrades and oversee the development of customized application software.
Provide hands on test configuration set-up, and test operating systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure applications function within the specified requirements.
Evaluate emerging engineering technologies and author/maintain the program technical road map to influence the development of solutions that impact strategic program goals and business growth.
Develop project planning artifacts, to include Level of Effort (LOE) labor estimates supported by Basis of Estimates for Special Project proposal activities.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Related Field with 12+ years relevant experience.
Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance, and the ability to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
Possess a DoD 8570 IAT Technical Level II (Security+ or SSCP, GSEC, CCNA-Security equivalent) certifications.
Requires results-oriented, forward-thinking, self-starter with a passion for problem solving, and an ability to identify and eliminate/mitigate risks before they become issues.
Superior communication skills, proven team synergy experience, and must possess good briefing and presentation skills.
Possess a working knowledge of MS Office, SharePoint, and Teams, and other relevant office automation tools used to support the work effort.
Possess a Master’s Degree in a Computer Related Field with 10+ years of relevant experience.
Working knowledge of the Micro Focus Solutions Business Manager (SBM) Integrated Support System (ISS) workflow tool, ISS Python Reports, RF-ITV Tracking Portal, Total Asset Visibility In-processing Station (TIPS) Read/Write software, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Field Data Unit Software, and Iridium Modem software.
Experience working with RFID, Satellite, and Cellular tag tracking technologies.
Pay Range:Pay Range $113,100.00 - $174,000.00 - $234,900.00
