Leidos has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Linux Systems Engineer with experience working with cloud (AWS) technologies. This position is in support of the Air Force Cloud One Virtual Data Center contract as a systems service provider maintaining and providing Human Resources Systems in a GovCloud (AWS) environment.
The Sr Linux Systems Administrator selected for this position will build, integrate, and maintain all RHEL/Linux based Virtual Data Center (VDC) systems through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) and investigate and analyze all activities related to infrastructure incidents within the network environment in coordination with the Air Force DTA Security Operations Center, System Administrators and other System Engineers under a tiered response structure. Selected Cloud Engineer Architect will assist in determining scope, urgency, and potential impact and track infrastructure incidents from initial detection through final resolution. The candidate for this position may work anywhere in the United States. There is no requirement to work at a SAIC or customer site to support Cloud One.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide direct Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Linux systems engineering, administration and maintenance support to the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) environment
Collaborate using Amazon Web Services (AWS) for use of AWS native services such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Simple Storage (S3) and Amazon Simple DB/RDS databases, AWS Identity and Access Management IAM.
Discover and resolve issues with Linux servers in virtual environment
Design new capabilities and enhancements (to include Cloud Migration and Analytics design and development) and create efficiencies within the AWS environments.
Create, Maintain and Delete service accounts and troubleshoot and maintain system documentation, interacts with users and evaluates vendor products, deep understanding of monitoring AWS instances and services.
Experience working with administrator and service accounts and troubleshoot Creates/updates and Maintains system documentation, interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
Assist in the delivery ATO’s documentation for IL2/IL4 environments, work with IA team to define, document and implement Security Controls.
Provide VDC weekly status reports to Contractor Program Manager and government representatives
Coordinate the resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that require cross-discipline coordination
Participate in the development of system engineering documentation, such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents
Report findings to management with recommendations for resolution.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience (8 years or more of experience and certifications in lieu of degree)
- Experience planning, building, integrating and maintaining RHEL/Linux systems
- Experience with Ansible automation technology
- Have working knowledge of programming languages, Ruby & YAML preferred
- Experience supporting USAF software development projects
- In-depth understanding of, and experience with, deployments of various systems to Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Clearance: Active Secret required at time of hire.
- Must have Security + (DoD 8570 series IAT Level II Certification) Sec+ minimum
Preferred Qualifications
AWS Associate Certifications
Scripting Experience: YAML & Ruby Scripting
SAFe DevOps certification is desirable
Experience supporting software migration efforts
MCSE or MCTS, Azure certifications (AZ 100, AZ 500, and/or other AZ series exams, 346/7 are bonus), Azure Assessments
Experience in an MSP or other IT company highly desirable
Pay Range:
Pay Range $74,750.00 - $115,000.00 - $155,250.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
