The ERAM program within the Leidos Civil group is seeking an Systems Engineer Technical Documentation Writer who will be a member of a dynamic team working on the Federal Aviation Administration’s En-Route Automation Modernization ERAM) technology, which is the heart of the Next Generation Air Transportation System and the pulse of the National Airspace System. The program is committed to assisting the FAA customer advance our transition from a ground-based system of air traffic control to a satellite-based system of air traffic management. ERAM is vital to the future of air navigation, providing the foundation for NexGen functions. The successful candidate will be assisting in the development (writing, editing, proofreading and/or providing writing support) of technical manuals updates based on engineering whitepapers and problem reports (PRs). The candidate will be responsible for creating and modifying technical diagrams using tools such as Visio or Microsoft PowerPoint; reviewing technical changes; provide editorial changes per FAA documentation standards. Candidate will be required to represent Leidos to the FAA customer in a positive manner, demonstrating exceptional communication skills, flexibility and adaptability in adjusting to shifting work requirements in an environment that can be fast-paced.
Primary Responsibilities
- Technical manual updates and inspection support. Support analysis of customer problem reports (and enhancement requests)Work directly with FAA customers to ensure a valid understanding of the problem (or requested enhancement) and need.
- Assisting with technical documentation development and lab validation for review and approval by FAA Second Level Engineering personnel.
- Establish and maintain a direct working relationship with FAA Book Owners, Second Level Engineering, and Technical Manuals representatives responsible for the FAA systems fielded by Leidos.
- Demonstrated direct experience developing and implementing large-scale technical changes on compressed schedule deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work without appreciable direction, modulating schedule to meet and exceed schedule targets.
- Working knowledge of XML editor (i.e. PTC Arbortext)
- Demonstrated ability to review and provide editorial comments for content developed by other team members.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
- Your GPA needs to be included on your application and resume.
- US Citizenship Requirements
- Candidate must be able to obtain an SF-85P Public Trust clearance from the FAA customer.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $53,300.00 - $82,000.00 - $110,700.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
