Airborne Sensor Operator (ASO) Operations and Training Manager supporting a USSOCOM manned ISR program that will be based OCONUS. The ASO Operations and Training Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing ASO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the ASO training program.  The successful candidate will possess a combination of maturity, leadership, management, technical skill and operational experience to manage all aspects of ASO operations and training in a tactical ISR environment. Selected candidates will be required to maintain flight status as well as currency and qualification in the program’s aircraft as well as instructor/evaluator status.

THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)

  • Liaise with Program Management Office (PMO) and CONUS support staff to identify, collect, and report all ASO pre-deployment flight qualifications, identify and track recurring requirements and shortfalls; work with the PMO to ensure deployment schedule accuracy and that the appropriate mix of ASO experience levels are on site to meet mission requirements.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skill in communicating complex operational and tactical operations processes into simple and easy to understand concepts.

  • Manage all aspects of the OCONUS ASO training program to ensure they complete/meet all ground, preflight, flight, and post flight training prerequisites and requirements IAW with the Flight and Ground Operating Procedures (FGOPs) and customer Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) to include the following but not limited to;

    • Determine performance & knowledge standards for ASO and Mission Commander qualifications

    • Develop and implement the ASO Training Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

    • Liaise with OCONUS end-user to determine mission requirements and standards for operation

    • Complete all training documentation and deliver via electronic means to PMO and division Training Manager

    • Receive customer mission execution performance feedback and ensure ASO performance meets their requirements; provide corrective actions when required

    • Provide quality control review of all post mission products prior to dissemination the customer

    • Identify and recommend ASOs for upgrade to Mission Commander, Instructor and Evaluator ASO

    • Provide weekly recurring training to deployed ASOs to address mission performance trends and emerging and mission requirements TTP updates

  • Manage OCONUS ASO flight and training schedule

  • Work closely with Field Support Technicians to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve aircraft mission systems issues/discrepancies; conduct or direct system return to service flight evaluations as required

  • Be well versed in Leidos corporate and on-site customer policies and regulations

  • Support Site leadership team with any collateral duties as required

WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4-8 years of related experience or a master’s degree with 2-6 years of relevant experience; recent and relevant training experience may be considered in lieu of degree

  • Current and highly qualified Instructor or Evaluator SOCOM Tactical Airborne Multi-Sensor Platform (STAMP) ASO with a minimum of two years or 700 hours as an ASO operating on STAMP aircraft

  • Possess excellent communications, leadership, and managerial skills

  • Ability to manage work and flying schedules in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment

  • Experience managing personnel in a deployed environment

  • Maintain a current FAA Class II medical certificate

  • Have current altitude chamber / physiological training

  • Possess a DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI read-on

  • Must be able to travel to various CONUS locations for training

  • Be able to obtain a passport and or visa to travel internationally

  • Be willing to work long hours and / or non-regular hours with minimal notice

  • Be willing to work and execute airborne missions in Hardship and Hazardous locations

  • Must be able to successfully accomplish the CONUS Replacement Center course, which requires compliance with certain medical standards, a successful deployment physical examination, immunizations, and training.

Security Clearance and Passport Requirements

  • Possess a DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI read-on

  • Be able to obtain a passport and or visa to travel internationally

Travel Requirement

  • Must be able to travel to various CONUS locations for training

  • Be willing to work long hours and / or non-regular hours with minimal notice

  • Be willing to work and execute airborne missions in Hardship and Hazardous locations

Preferred Qualifications 

  • High level of proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Previous experience working in a military aircrew training program.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $57,850.00 - $89,000.00 - $120,150.00
