The Leidos Defense Group is seeking a System Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership and support in the areas of IT planning, solution specification, design and target architecture development. The system engineering manager will support the 844th communications Group at three locations to include Joint Base Anacostia Bolling (JBAB), Joint Base Andrews (JBA) and the Pentagon. This includes supporting the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW) and Headquarters Air Force (HAF) customers on both NIPRNet and SIPRNet domains. The well-qualified candidate will have a strong knowledge of information technology and commercial solutions; and significant experience designing and developing technical solutions. The preferred candidate will have excellent communications skills, a strong customer service orientation, and experience serving as an advisor to Chief Architect and other senior IT managers.
Primary Responsibilities, the selected candidate will be responsible for:
Participating as a member of the Enterprise Architecture Team and working with the AFDW enterprise architecture team to document, design and achieve target architectures.
Provide leadership for the development of COTS/GOTS systems.
Preparing solution packages documenting recommended technical solutions and estimated costs and benefits.
Identify, assess, and present options for meeting the functional and technical requirements, which might include hardware and software updates or upgrades.
Lead enterprise standard gate reviews (System Requirements Review, Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews, Functional Configuration Audits, Physical Configuration Audits, etc.…).
Responsible for defining and executing a staffing strategy, including acquiring, training, and deploying staff for identified needs or reductions.
Provide transparent and regular status updates in requested format.
Workload management for direct reports.
Annual performance assessments of your team members
Responsible for implementing process improvements and providing suggestions for tools.
Responsible for the performance management and evaluation of direct reports including 1:1 coaching, employee development, ensuring technical proficiency and motivating team members.
Establish effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsible for meeting first time quality and presenting progress to plan utilizing program preferred metrics or mutually agreeable forms of communication.
Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes. manages, develops, and motivates employees.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline and 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 years of prior relevant experience, additional years of applicable experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Multiple years of leading, managing or supervising teams.
Currently possess an active Secret security clearance.
Ability to obtain a DoD 8750 certification at least IAT level II, e.g. Security+ CE within 90 days of starting the position.
Strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
Customer service oriented.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience Microsoft Server experience (2008R2, 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022).
Experience Microsoft Windows Active Directory Management.
Experience with Storage Area Networks.
Experience with Data protection.
Experience with VMWare environments.
Experience Network Monitoring tools (SolarWinds, SCOM, vROPS).
Experience with DISA STIGs, Air Force MTOs, TCNOs and other guidance.
Knowledge of DoD and/or USAF systems engineering processes and procedures.
Project Management Experience.
Experience with a ticketing system such as Remedy.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $118,300.00 - $182,000.00 - $245,700.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
