Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a full-time Database Manager at the Naval Health Research Center, San Diego, CA. The candidate will provide database management and statistical analysis support for research to modernize the existing U.S. Navy Search and Rescue (SAR) database, examine gaps in en route care (ERC), and assess outcomes following limited duty status; plan and perform statistical analyses for research projects with complex study designs; consult with team members to derive an in-depth understanding of the hypotheses and experimental approaches; exercise independent judgment in the resolution of analytical problems while working in a team environment.
Due the COVID-19 pandemic, employees may be able to work remotely from their home office during periods of high transmission. During periods of lower transmission this position will be required to be on-site at the Naval Health Research Center at least 4 days per week.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs data manipulations, data visualizations, and statistical analyses of complex databases using SQL, R, Python, and/or SAS
Performs database-centric responsibilities including: data mining, validation, aggregation, wrangling, and trend analysis for health research purposes.
Collates/reviews data for submission while monitoring for outliers, error processing, and validation
Performs data accuracy audits and data quality assurance and review on large datasets
Performs statistical analysis, data mining, and pattern and trend analysis for multiple operational and research projects using large healthcare datasets
Maintains meticulous records of data analysis procedures and findings.
Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, or relevant social science field (e.g., epidemiology, public health, psychology) with heavy quant focus and at least 3 years of significant research experience with large, complex medical records datasets
Knowledge of statistics and SQL, R and/or SAS programming.
Experience with manipulation of large datasets and databases.
Knowledge of statistical techniques for handling missing data.
Knowledge; analysis of variance, including repeated measures; logistic regression; analysis of variance; survival analysis; multilevel modeling
Ability to be a self-starter and work independently as well as in a team. Ability to plan and prioritize work.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in data science, statistics, or relevant social science field (e.g., epidemiology, public health, psychology) with heavy quant focus
Demonstrated ability to conduct various types of analyses using logistic regression, analysis of variance, survival analysis, multilevel modeling, and other techniques as required.
Demonstrated familiarity with the Military Health System Data Repository and/or other large complex military databases
Demonstrated experience preparing military research documents, including military data-sharing agreements and IRB protocols
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and write complex documents such as project reports, technical reports, and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication

Pay Range:
Pay Range $63,050.00 - $97,000.00 - $130,950.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
