Job Summary:

QTC is seeking an Accounting Manager to carry out the application of principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Insure the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and provides guidance to the general accounting team in the daily Accounting operations and preparation of accounting schedules, records and reports, journal entries, and reconciliations to ensure the accounting close and financial reporting is done timely and accurately;
  • Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of the accounting staff;
  • Manages all aspects of the General Ledger and overseeing analysis of General Ledger accounts as well as balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Participates in the selection of accounting staff, provides and coordinates staff training, leads and motivates the team, works with employees to correct deficiencies, and implements discipline procedures as needed;
  • Assists with preparation of journal entries and reconciliations as needed;
  • Ensures compliance with company policies as well as relevant accounting policies, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), Financial Accounting & Reporting (FAR) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements;
  • Provides accounting guidance to internal teams such as AP, Billing, Procurement, Operations, IT, HR, and Payroll etc. by understanding the underlying transactions and researching/interpreting the company accounting policies and procedures to ensure it is in accordance with GAAP;
  • Able to translate technical accounting guidance to non-accountants in an easy to understand manner;
  • Prepares analyses and reports as requested by or required by the Parent Company, Internal Audit, SOX, and other internal and external stakeholders;
  • Leads the team in process documentation and process improvement/automation efforts;
  • Coordinates and performs specific internal controls related to accounting to ensure compliance (no control deficiencies or weaknesses);
  • Assists with the budget process, capex review process, and physical inventory of fixed assets; and
  • Assists with ad hoc projects and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Competencies/ Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SOX controls
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to details, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective management and leadership skills and ability to define priorities and motivate staff
  • Demonstrates professional ethics and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to extract, analyze, and interpret large data sets
  • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly in Excel (vlookup, pivot table, sumif, etc.)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited college required
  • Generally 7 years of professional experience in Accounting or Audit with 2 years in a managerial role in Accounting or Audit
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field highly preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant designation highly preferred
  • Big 4 work experience highly preferred
  • Experience with Acumatica or other modern ERP/Accounting systems highly preferred
  • Proficiency with Tableau or other data analysis tools highly preferred

Pay Range:

Pay Range $90,350.00 - $139,000.00 - $187,650.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
