Job Description:
Leidos is currently seeking a Database Systems Administrator in support of the AFINC II contract for the highly visible 26th Network Operations Squadron (26 NOS) at Maxwell Air force Base-Gunter Annex, Alabama, which provides a world-wide support mission. The 26 NOS is responsible for the intranet support of the entire Air Force network. The mission of the 26 NOS is to operate and defend the Air Force (AF) Enterprise computer network consisting of the AF Wide Area Network (WAN) routers, AF Network Increment 1 (AFNET Inc 1) Gateways, and the 26 NOS Local Area Network (LAN) assets.
The Database Sys Admin selected for this position works on a team that manages all the Air Force network boundary AFINC systems for the program to include updates, life cycle management, IAVMs, software patches, etc.
Primary Responsibilities
Work within data center operations supporting Windows servers, desktops, Linux systems and various application patching, software version updates, network and security configurations
Administer SQL (Structured Query Language) database instances or PostgreSQL to manage and interact with hosted software applications such as SharePoint sites, NetQoS, Cacti, SolarWinds, etc.
Assist with database administration including design layout, installation, configurations, upgrades, consolidation, monitoring, tuning, and maintenance
Be able to conduct database backups and recovery processes
Novice skills to develop and maintain stored procedures, views, tables, T-SQL scripts, creating associated documentation; Perform data conversion and server migrations
Use and maintain SQL Server environment technical documentation and system security plans
Ability to interact with Microsoft SQL database stored procedures, and desktop applications
Aide in effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, certificate management and maintenance of high availability production and disaster recovery (DR) sites
Assist with database implementation, security, privileges and regular maintenance tasks
Execute or improve scripts to automate periodic database management operations
Utilize Windows automation processes with PowerShell to improve or enhance day-to-day operations to create team efficiencies & reduce manual processes
Provide a periodic report of system status to include uptime, incident problems or open issues
Respond to system faults, analyzing and correcting applications or errors to reestablish service
Aid to identify technical environment issues and recommend solutions to mitigate problems
Perform administrative work using and installing new and existing physical or web-based database application systems in a smart card Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) environment
Work independently and as a team member
Support on-call rotation schedule
Cross train capabilities with other team members
Basic Qualifications
Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 3 - 5 years of prior relevant database experience
Must have an active Secret Clearance
Strong verbal and written communications skills
An IAT certification: Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CISSP or SSCP
Minimum one or more of the following technical certifications:
Microsoft based certification (current): Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals; Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals; Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate; Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate; Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
Microsoft based certification (retired, will be considered): Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Database Fundamentals, Windows Operating System Fundamentals, Windows Server Administration Fundamentals, Security Fundamentals; or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) SQL 2016 Database Administration, SQL Server 2012/2014, Web Applications
ITIL certification a plus
Pay Range:
Pay Range $46,800.00 - $72,000.00 - $97,200.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
