Job Description:
The Intelligence Group at Leidos is seeking a UI/UX Designer to support a classified government customer. This opportunity focuses on the development of a training products designed to increase the digital acumen and tradecraft of its employees. Training products will span the gamut from paper-based job-aids to full immersive worlds. Content will be delivered both synchronously and asynchronously.
The UI/UX Designer will be responsible for understanding business requirements (including any technical limitations) by conducting user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes. The Designer will also be expected to design the overall functionality of the product, and in order to ensure a great user experience, iterate upon it in accordance with user-testing. The Designer will perform end-user facing research with the products and integrate insights from this research into the design process. The Designer be required to stay abreast of new methods, technology, and trends that impact user experience research and design practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
Researching, designing and user-testing experiences and making strategic user-experience decisions while working closely with product owners, engineers and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
Conducting usability studies and proactively identifying and devising solutions for issues with the existing experience. Tracking success of experience focused changes and iterating as necessary to improve performance.
Independently conducting UX research interviews, prototype reviews, surveys, and usability sessions.
Working with teammates and other disciplines to encourage teams to adopt UX design solutions.
Engage on interactive and website development projects and provide recommendations on multimedia/communications design, content, and features based on target consumer audience(s)
Developing personas, user flows, scenarios, user stories, goal/task analysis, system workflows and other key tools of user-centered design that simplify and enhance the insights acquired from complex data analytics platforms.
Translating concepts into user flows, wireframes, and work collaboratively to create mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experience.
Applying the basics of visual design (i.e., UI) principles in their design work such as visual hierarchy, proximity, similarity, font selection and color theory and demonstrate an understanding of visual, layout, content organization, and accessibility guidelines.
Designing, supporting development, documenting, testing and deploying applications and UI prototypes to be written by software team in JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
Creating visualizations and dashboards using React, JavaScript and HTML.
Perform website development and operations and maintenance on Joomla, Talkabout, and SharePoint
Develop and maintain project documentation (including requirements definition, cost estimation, schedule, resource allocation in project plans) and proofs, production files, cost analysis and reporting
Articulate vision for meeting project objectives both in concept presentations and in writing, and collaborate with clients to develop effective solutions to meet their communication needs
Participate actively, collaboratively and effectively in weekly team and project meetings with customers, management, technical staff, and project team members to define requirements, identify issues, negotiate changes, manage production resources and meet deadlines
Provide excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills to clients, peers and management via effective oral and written correspondence
Manage multiple, complex projects concurrently, regularly independently, ensuring project goals are met or exceeded
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
Must possess a current Top Secret Clearance; TS/SCI with polygraph preferred and eligibility a must! This requires US Citizenship.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 4+ years of professional experience; or 2+ years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree.
5+ years of UX/UI architecture, design, development and delivery experience. Strong documentation skills with a proven ability to develop architecture diagrams and wireframes.
3+ years of demonstrable experience designing, developing and deploying dashboards and reports.
Strong communication skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team, including the ability to clearly articulate status and present to both customers and program leadership.
Experience using project management tools such as Jira and Confluence to document requirements, acceptance criteria and test cases.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with and convey focused messages to stakeholders, customers, domain experts, program managers and teammates.
Demonstrated track record of designing innovative web-based applications through conducting user research, creating UX and visual design documents, building prototypes, and overseeing their execution all the way through production
