The US Government uses space systems to solve many complex problems to protect our warfighters and gather information on threats to our national interest. The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) performs space payload systems research and development (R&D) to create innovative one-of-a-kind solutions to these complex Customer needs. Currently, we have a need for assembly, integration, and test of space sensor payloads to be conducted in a clean room environment.
LInC has an opportunity for a System Test Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA, to work on the research, design, development, and test of optical payload systems for Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Space Situational Awareness (SSA) missions. Programs are funded by multiple US Government sponsors, industry, as well as Internal Research and Development (IR&D) efforts. The System Test engineer supports technical planning, system hardware-software design, development and integration, verification and validation, and fielding, and also evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Development and execution of Test Approaches and Test Procedures to verify System Requirements.
Perform integration of space hardware and software into the system baseline.
Performing Systems Engineering as needed for the space payload system. Providing support needed for software development, integration and test, and other functional areas.
Writing/Editing/Executing/Debugging test productivity tools and other duties as assigned.
Analyze data in support of customer design requirements, data reduction and analysis of test output.
Working in a Waterfall development methodology for System Integration & Test.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2+ years or more experience.
Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Secret security clearance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated technical integration skills in prior work performed
Test or similar technical experience working with complex systems
Demonstrated success working in a team-oriented environment
Ability to work in a group or independently to ensure team goals are met
Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership abilities along with strong systems integration & test engineering technical skills.
Integration & Test experience, including proven experience working in complex space systems and performing hands-on system integration and formal requirements verification.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience working directly with customers to discuss their requirements, objectives and test plans/procedures - interfacing with other functional areas (e.g. Software, Hardware, and Systems Engineering)

Pay Range:
Pay Range $78,000.00 - $120,000.00 - $162,000.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
