Leidos has an opening for a Requirements Engineer located at Fort Detrick, MD, working with the Enterprise Information Technology Project Management Office (eIT PMO). The eIT PMO supports medical research IT solutions to the U.S. Army Medical Research & Development Command (USAMRDC) with the mission to facilitate full coordination, planning, management, and execution of the project to ensure successful acquisition and sustainment of the required IT solution. The eIT PMO’s vision is to be the premier DoD provider of medical research enterprise IT solutions.

The Requirements Engineer (RE) will report to the Chief Systems Engineer but is expected to work independently and accomplish assignments with minimal direction. The primary responsibility of the RE is to elicit, analyze, document, validate, and manage the needs and requirements of the USAMRDC stakeholders for eIT PMO IT Services and Capabilities. The RE supports requirements activities across all segments of the eIT PMO and its sub-portfolios, systems, and functional elements. The RE also supports system engineering activities as the principal individual executing the Requirements Engineering process. Work schedule must be flexible and may require occasional after hours or weekend work to assist the Product Support and Sustainment team with product downtimes.
**Position is currently a hybrid format and requires one day per week in office, but may change per Government direction.**
What you will do: (Primary Responsibilities)
Evaluate and organize needs, requirements/user stories and specifications.
Document meeting minutes for all related customer meetings.
Assist with coordinating and conducting customer meetings to address requested needs.
Ensure the verification of all related software and service deliverables.
Perform requirements traceability and support validation activities as required.
Support software and service development activities for architecture and engineering efforts.
Document Requirements Engineering elements within the architecture management tool, IT Service Management tool, and/or agile management tool.
Manage requirements and associated artifacts throughout the lifecycle of the system or defined customer service.
Maintain a safe workplace ensuring awareness and observation of appropriate safety and occupational health rules and regulations. Employee may be required to attend safety training relative to this position and report any infractions of safety procedures to the facility Safety Officer.
Primarily working with the Business Analyst and the Data Architect to ensure that all relevant customer business process areas are accounted for appropriately within the design and functional requirements.
Assist with basic configuration and documentation of toolsets in place to support requirements activities.
Contribute to efforts of the eIT PMO to provide quality and value to customers, management, and team members.
What you need to succeed: (Minimum Qualifications / Skills)
Bachelor’s Degree with 4-8 years of prior relevant IT services and support experience or Master’s with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.
Knowledge and understanding of IT Requirements Engineering processes.
Ability to take ownership of requirements process improvements and make recommendations to leadership.
Understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, and Visio).
Basic knowledge of requirements management tools.
Ability to interact in a professional and courteous manner with individuals at all levels of responsibility.
Ability to work independently following a brief period of specific technical training and be a strong team player.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Detail-oriented and ability to absorb and clearly document complex problems.
Self-motivated to increase professional competence through continuous learning.
U.S. citizenship required to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Physical capabilities: work may involve long periods of sitting and/or standing.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
Experience in DoD environment, particularly DoD/Army/Defense Health Agency (DHA) processes and guidelines highly preferred.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR Regulations and Guidelines.
Basic knowledge of agile tools (such as Jira).
Understanding of the DoD Acquisition Process.
Understanding of USAMRDC customers and subordinate units.
A general knowledge of customer medical research business processes specifically to help implement project products.
Pay Range:Pay Range $66,300.00 - $102,000.00 - $137,700.00
