Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a System Administrator to support a large enterprise IT contract for the DOD. This role requires an individual that is technical in VMware administration, providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) level support to other systems administrators on configuration best practices. This individual should be detail oriented in order to capture customer inquiries appropriately. This role is responsible for interacting with other administrators to handle service inquiries and problems. Duties include examining highly complex customer problems and suggesting and implementing appropriate corrective action to initiate a repair or return to service. This role analyzes recurring problems and initiates solutions for preventing reoccurrence and analyzes existing infrastructure for tuning/performance enhancements. Individuals in this role may be required to perform technical software configuration, rebooting, and other remedial actions on customer servers.
Primary Responsibilities:
Administration of VMware virtual environment using vSphere spanning multiple data centers and networks.
Installation and configuration of VMware vCenter Server.
Installation and configuration of VMware ESXi hosts.
Perform troubleshooting of existing environment and new deployments in VMWare servers.
Conduct active monitoring of environment and respond to alerts and errors.
Document, review, and update system administration guides and procedures.
Configure and troubleshoot VMware virtual switches and NSX switches.
Configure and troubleshoot vSAN, ISCSI, and NFS datastores.
Assist other system administrators with troubleshooting virtual machines (Microsoft, RedHat, Ubuntu, etc.) and virtual desktops.
Mentor junior team members.
Support operations across multiple geographic locations and networks.
Develop solutions to complex technical issues.
Provide follow-up reports (technical findings, feedback, resolution steps taken) for Root Cause Analysis, engineering technical assessment and process improvement initiatives.
Interacting with customers and senior managers to handle service requests, inquiries, and problems.
Basic Qualifications:
Extensive experience with VMware vCenter including installing, configuring, securing, managing, troubleshooting, backup/restore, and upgrading on versions 6.0 or newer.
Extensive experience with ESXi host management including installing, configuring, securing, troubleshooting, and upgrading.
Extensive experience with vSAN including server side configuring, management, and troubleshooting virtual storage.
Extensive experience with NSX virtual networking including installing virtual switches, configuring, VLANs/subnets, and NSX command line.
Extensive experience with datastore management utilizing ISCSI and NFS.
Experience with configuring and scheduling automated backups.
Experience with creating and managing snapshot policies.
Familiarity with Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) solutions such as Dell VXRail.
Experience with performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization of VMware environment.
Experience with troubleshooting VM/VDI errors.
Experience with creating and troubleshooting automation scripts using PowerShell and PowerCLI.
Candidate must, at a minimum, meet DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements (currently Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP)
Preferred Qualifications:
VCP certification
Education:
Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with 6 years
Education equivalency of Associate’s with 10 years of related experience or High School Diploma with 12 years of related experience can be used in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
Security Clearance:
Due to the nature of the government contracts we support, US Citizenship is required.
TS/SCI with Poly is required for this position or TS/SCI and willingness to obtain a Poly.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $84,500.00 - $130,000.00 - $175,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
