Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a Lead engineer, designer, and maintainer for Systems Center Operations Manager (SCOM) Engineer in the Air Force National Capital Region. The candidate will be responsible ensuring the Enterprise Monitoring Team (EMT) and the SCOM tool facilitates Monitoring and Event Management efforts by gathering requirements from system owner, event managers, and leadership.
Primary Responsibilities:
This position is part of a team that tracks system performance using in-place monitoring tools such as SCOM and vCenter to support comprehensive monitoring and application/Infrastructure performance and availability.
Determine problems within SCOM systems, provide solutions for issues they find in the process, including designing new systems, upgrading software, creating documentation, run SCOM health check analyzer software and maintaining an existing system life cycle.
Review and update SCOM console security, apply patches, create SCOM console roles and reviews, and create and install custom Management Packs (MP) as needed.
Deliver SCOM views, create custom reports on results of SCOM monitoring, use SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) technologies, and provide problem resolution for SCOM components and related custom scripts.
Ensures that applications deployed will properly scale and meet expected SLAs for Performance, Availability, Scalability and Stability.
Monitors and reports for existing applications / systems and infrastructure.
Creates automated solutions for data collection and reporting for existing applications and infrastructure for Performance and Availability.
Reviews and analyzes Web Application Performance and end user experience (client-side browser profiling), utilizing a deep understanding various monitoring tools.
Works with the application and infrastructure teams to setup performance monitoring for the applications, databases, network and Cloud.
Implements effective monitoring solutions and assists in establishing the appropriate response to those events through processes and procedures, enabling level 1 and 2 teams to resolve as many issues as possible.
Track the status of down nodes and services.
Understand how monitoring tools work and their limitations.
Work to improve monitoring capabilities through seeking customer feedback.
Perform administrative tasks from the System Center Operation Manager (SCOM).
Provide application and infrastructure support for the SCOM and create and maintain monitoring and notification rules.
Researches and monitors current end-user response time as well as application and system performance and availability.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of applicable experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Currently hold a DoD Secret clearance.
Microsoft SCOM experience in a DoD environment.
Experience with the installation, configuration, and administration of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2019.
5 years of System Administration experience.
Strong communication skills.
Engineering-level planning, documentation, and design skills.
CompTIA Sec+ or equivalant Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of LAN/WAN network infrastructure technologies
CCNA
Experience with major Microsoft technologies including PC and server operating systems, Active Directory, SQL Server
Knowledge of server virtualization technologies, preferably VMware and/or Microsoft Azure technologies
Knowledge of multiple processor systems, RAID hardware, SCSI attached, and storage area network solutions
Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $150,000.00 - $202,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
