Job Description:
Military and Veterans Health Solutions under the Leidos Health Group is looking for a Data Analyst to support the Warfighter Performance Department at the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC). The Data Analyst will provide statistical and analytical guidance for a variety of health and psychological research studies conducted by the Warfighter Performance Department. They will plan and perform statistical analyses for diverse research projects with complex study designs; consult with team members to derive an in-depth understanding of the hypotheses and experimental approaches; exercise independent judgment in the resolution of analytical problems while working in a team environment. This research addresses the needs and concerns of Service Members and their families improve performance, enhance sustainment and mitigate injury. Results are delivered through abstracts, presentations, peer-reviewed journal publications, and government technical reports.
The Data Analyst will support the Principal Investigator with design and development of methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze data sources. They will use advanced software programs, algorithms, querying and automated processes to clean, integrate and evaluate datasets. The candidate will work within the team to ensure accurate reports of data analyses and findings. The candidate will identify meaningful insights and interpret and communicate findings and recommendations. They will develop information tools, algorithms, dashboards, and queries to monitor and improve business performance; and maintain awareness of emerging analytics and big-data technologies.
Primary Responsibilities
Requirements include but are not limited to:
Provides statistical guidance and support to the Principal Investigator and other team members.
Performs data manipulations and statistical analyses using SPSS and SAS. Conducts various types of analyses using logistic regression, analysis of variance, survival analysis, and other techniques as required.
Performs data manipulations and statistical analyses within the Career History Archival Medical and Personnel System (CHAMPS)
Designs requirements and maintains research databases for analysis in the department.
Works on multiple research projects simultaneously. Work independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments.
Writes reports and scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed professional journals.
Reviews and remains current with technical and scientific literature in mathematical and biostatistics.
Assists in preparing and presenting informal and formal briefings at various international and national meeting as well as military activities.
Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.
Effectively communicate processes and results (verbally, graphically, and in writing) for customers and stakeholders
Develop and evaluate appropriate experimental and statistical methodologies, write standards of procedure to perform those methodologies, and perform quality assurance/quality control procedures
Address complex technical issues/problems using internal best practices and through collaboration with colleagues.
Develops solutions to technical problems that require deep technical knowledge of epidemiology and public health, specifically as it relates to Service Member.
Effectively communicate with colleagues across multiple areas
Assist other technical staff with tasks and assignments.
Comply with all required Leidos and Government requirements and complete required trainings

Basic Qualifications
Master’s of Public Health degree from an accredited US university, or international university of equivalent standard, in biostatistics, mathematics, statistics, or a related field is required.
Requires working knowledge of and ability to apply standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques of epidemiology.
Demonstrate understanding and ability to conduct logistic regression analyses appropriately.
Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and experience in processing research data.
Candidates must be a self-starter, act on objectives in an independent manner, demonstrate leadership, work independently in a team, and have the ability to plan and prioritize work.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent critical thinking with problem-solving skills and an ability to work cooperatively in a team setting. Flexibility in responding to changing demands, timelines, and priorities is required.
Candidate must demonstrate strong computer skills
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to extend and apply the knowledge of research to the missions of the NHRC and Navy customer.
The candidate will be required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level.
Due to Federal contract requirements, US citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience designing and implementing experiments with high technical sophistication in military, veteran, or related populations.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $53,300.00 - $82,000.00 - $110,700.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
