Leidos is currently seeking to hire a full-time Research Associate to support the Deployment Health Research Department at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA. This position will support the Military Sealift Command’s Health Promotion Program evaluation study funded by the Military Operational Medicine Research Program, Joint Program Committee-5 (MOMRP JPC-5). This study is being conducted by researchers at the Naval Health Research Center and seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of an existing health promotion program for Civil Service Mariners. This position involves working closely with military, government, and contract researchers to prepare and manage documents for regulatory approvals, to conduct literature searches and organize relevant literature, to assist with preparation of data collection materials, to execute in-person and virtual data collection efforts, to conduct data entry tasks, and to contribute to manuscript preparation and research deliverables.

Due the COVID-19 pandemic, employees are highly encouraged to work remotely from their home office, although visits 1-2 times a week to the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego will be required. 

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Administer consent forms and surveys to civil service mariners and active-duty service members.

• Develop Institutional Review Board protocols, modifications, and continuing reviews.

• Organize literature reviews.

• Organize study documentation

• Ensure compliance with data collection policies.

• Complete trainings on the data collection protocols and other requirements necessary to conduct human subjects research.

• Manage data collection preparations and logistics, track data collection progress.

• Prepare agendas (with guidance from project leadership), take meeting minutes, and participate in project meetings.

• Participate in developing effective participant retention strategies.

• Keep a detailed and organized record of work activities.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences (psychology/sociology), public health, or related field

• Minimum of 1 year work experience in a professional setting

• Must have reliable transportation and reliable access to telephone and internet technology.

• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of or experience working with the military community.

• Experience with human subjects research

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
