Leidos has a career opportunity for a Test Automation Engineer / Fires Domain SME in Aberdeen, MD to support the Fires Modernization effort of developing and maintaining a test automation framework for testing and validation of Kubernetes microservices. The services being developed are intended to augment existing Army Program Executive Office Tactical (PEO-C3T) C2 application capabilities. The test automation engineer will be expected to integrate and collaborate directly with Leidos technical teams, including software architects, software development team members, and DevOps personnel, to develop, deliver and maintain comprehensive automated test scripts for validating the functionality of microservice based capabilities for deployment in the cloud and cloud edge node devices. Once integrated with an assigned development team, this individual will also be relied upon for design and implementation guidance based on their understanding of kinetic fires doctrines and domain knowledge.
PEO-C3T has several C2 applications currently deployed to forward troops which provide automated command, coordination, communication, and computing capabilities for fire support and coordination for all echelons, and across multiple services and joint nation partners. This effort is to meet the Army’s objectives of proving out timely and cost-effective, non-intrusive updates to legacy C2 capabilities and to enable continuous modernization through a cloud-based enterprise architecture approach.
Primary Responsibilities
Coordinate with product owners and software architects; using your knowledge of kinetic fires, provide insight and input into new fires domain capability requirements and external system to system interaction definitions
Collaborate with product owners, software architects, and development teams, to defining the required test cases and associated test parameters for validating to-be developed capabilities (Test Driven Development)
Use development tools sets (ticketing, wiki, and repository) for collaboration, source control, and to communicate information
Decompose the LOE required to produce and integrate test cases, and provide accurate estimates for the development and delivering of test case artifacts
Identify potential roadblocks and develop around them
Lead, mentor and guide junior testers and new test team members
Basic Qualifications
BS degree in related technical field and 4-8 years prior relevant experience OR Master’s degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience. May substitute BS degree for 4 additional years of related experience
Significant experience working with software development teams and using software QA methodologies
Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases
Experience with selecting, standing up, and integrating an automation test framework based on required testing and software product interfaces
Experience integrating automation test cases into a Jenkins CI/CD build pipeline
Significant experience in creating and maintaining existing automation test scripts
Experience with standard development tool (IDE, git, code repository/wiki/ticketing tool sets)
Experience with both Whitebox and black box testing
Experience developing in an Agile (Scrum, SAFe) environment
Familiar with Linux and Windows administration
Experience with virtualization tools (VMware, VirtualBox, etc.)
Able to multi-task, self-assign work, and function in a dynamic, fast-paced, development environment
Excellent internal collaboration and external customer facing skills, both verbal and written
Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint)
Active and Current DoD Secret required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Java and Python
Experience with microservices frameworks and / or Kubernetes architectures
Experience in development of digital products for government organizations
Pay Range:
Pay Range $78,000.00 - $120,000.00 - $162,000.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
