Leidos has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer with experience and expertise in control systems for high energy, high power systems. This exciting opportunity will challenge you to use your imagination and problem solving skills to develop the next generation of directed energy (DE) weapons for the US Air Force and other DoD customers. You will join a team that conducts research, development and testing on high power electromagnetic (HPEM) components and systems at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Kirtland, AFB.
Primary Responsibilities
Digital PC board level design and FPGA development
Translating high-level instrument specifications into performance requirements at the module level
Creating block diagrams, schematics, and FPGA designs to meet requirements
Managing necessary PCB layouts and mechanical portions of design
FPGA digital logic design, simulation, synthesis, and integration
Prototype board bring-up, debugging, and functional verification
Developing test specifications from test data and assisting product transition to manufacturing
Work with multiple engineering teams to design, develop, and document control systems for HPEM experimental test beds and prototype systems.
Design hardware and software solutions to customer requirements, build and test these solutions, and integrate them into customer systems.
Support the development of DE technology into fully integrated weapon systems on land, sea and air platforms.
Support system testing in the laboratory and field.
Basic Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. (US Citizenship required)
- Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- 8-12 years of experience with control systems (6-10 years of experience with a master’s degree).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to write reports, technical papers and work instructions as well as preparing and presenting briefings to stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in design of digital circuits and systems
Proficient in FPGA/PLD design and PCB layout
Experience in design and/or use of Test and Measurement equipment
Skilled in implementation of FPGAs for hardware control, signal processing and high speed interfaces
Working experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools
Experience in design for and analysis of signal integrity
Experience with interfacing to high speed DACs/ADCs a plus
Adept in hands-on troubleshooting of circuits
Knowledge of analog/mixed signals and basic power supply design
Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $150,000.00 - $202,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
