The C4ISR Operation at Leidos currently has an opening for a Digital Engineer in support of our newly established Multi-Domain Operations Division. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience as we build the new division and help the Department of the Air Force (DAF) establish and maintain the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS).
For this job, we will support a flexible teleworking schedule majority of the time. However, the chosen candidate will need to be local to the Reston, VA so they can travel in when needed to work in our SCIF.
ABMS is a top modernization priority for the DAF and will be the backbone of a network-centric approach to battle management in partnership with all the services across the Department of Defense Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2). As envisioned, JADC2 will allow U.S. forces from all services to sense, make sense and act upon a vast array of data and information from all domains (air, land, sea, and space). In this role you will use Models Based System Engineering (MBSE) working closely with the Program Manager, Systems Engineers, other domain engineers, and Government counterparts to perform and manage the full spectrum of systems engineering tasks including requirements analysis, system and interface design, system integration and testing. Leidos’s digital approach to the program management, design engineering, and manufacturing domains ensures a bi-directional, traceable Systems Baseline across the various Digital Engineering (DE) tools. Leidos’s comprehensive approach to Digital Engineering features MBSE as its foundation to develop and use M&S and DE artifacts in an integrated manner, enforcing a consistent and compatible design throughout the development lifecycle.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for managing and employing SE standard methods, MBSE models and artifacts, SE processes and Digital Engineering tools to accomplish requirements analysis, problem diagnosis and solution design, integration and test preparation, risk assessment and mitigation planning, and related activities
Interface with government personnel to identify required activities, perform collaborative planning, review deliverables, and resolve SE issues
Interface with Air Force, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs), and others to ensure requirements and operational objectives are met
Facilitate technical and programmatic information exchange in support of program objectives
Participate in Working Groups and IPTs, informal/formal technical interchanges, and formal reviews
Document interfaces and standards
Contribute to the risk management process
Additional responsibilities as needed by the program
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, systems engineering, or related technical field with at least 8-12 years of experience in systems engineering. Masters with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
Active and current DoDSecret security clearance, with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
Experience with employing MBSE approaches and tools (Cameo Systems Modeler preferred)
Demonstrable knowledge of systems engineering concepts and applying these concepts to Department of Defense programs
Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, and other systems engineers in the development of complex DoD systems
Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex system problems and develop innovative solutions
Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of system integration activities
Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in systems engineering
SysML OCSMP Model Builder Certification
INCOSE Certification
Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $150,000.00 - $202,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
