The Leidos Defense Group FAR 145 Repair Station currently has a Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician opening at the Manassas VA Regional Airport facility.
The qualified applicant will be expected to demonstrate a strong working knowledge and the skill set needed to perform aircraft modification. Possess current and prior experience performing on aircraft repair, modification, fabrication, and installation procedures. Be proficient in interpretation of engineering drawings, and other supporting technical data. The Structural Mechanic will plan, lay out, and install, both internal and external primary and secondary structural modifications on the airframe and components.
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
Possess the skills to remove and install various fasteners such as rivets, blind fasteners, HI-Lok’s structural adhesives, close tolerance fasteners etc.
Experienced in common fabrication methods and techniques used on sheet stock, extrusions, Honeycomb, fiberglass, and carbon fiber.
Possess good working skill set in the use of industry standard tooling and equipment used to fabricate and install primary and secondary structural components.
Demonstrate the ability to follow standard operating procedures used in the production process.
Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all production teams, including engineering and management staff.
Possess effective oral and technical written communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.
Ability to document work accomplished accurately and in accordance with Federal Aviation rules and regulations.
Possess Strong analysis, decision making and problem-solving skills. Ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions.
Perform basic mathematical computations, use electronic technical data services.
WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum two (2) years of sheet metal experience performing aircraft modifications.
Ability to follow safety and security procedures required by Leidos.
Candidates will be required to undergo a DOT/FAA pre-employment drug test prior to being hired or transferred into a Department of Transportation safety-sensitive position.
Security Clearance Requirement
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Airframe and Powerplant A&P Certification
Pay Range:Pay Range $44,200.00 - $68,000.00 - $91,800.00
