The Defense Group at Leidos, supporting the Medium/Overload Unmanned Surface Vessel (MUSV) Program, is seeking a USV Operations Lead to support a dynamic high growth organization. The Operations Manager will support the operations and testing of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV). This project team develops and operates cutting-edge autonomous vessel technology to the US Navy in Port Hueneme, CA. The program operates and maintains prototype autonomous vessels for test and evaluation of the vessels as well as developing operations, maintenance, logistics and training procedures for the autonomous Fleet of the future. We are seeking resilient, innovative team-players with a reputation for excellence. This position requires you to be on site @ Port Hueneme, CA with up to 25 % travel locally. We are expecting award in March 2023.

Responsibilities – Work you’ll do:
- Manage waterfront operations for four large USV.
- Manage operational schedules, vessel crew, support craft, subcontracted vessel operators, and remote mission system operators in support of USV test & evaluation and fleet demonstration events.
- Coordinate with US Navy exercise planners, range planners, and fleet schedulers to support USV participation in fleet exercise and operational events.
- Support active-duty US Navy personnel planning and executing at-sea events for USVs.
- Support training of US Navy personnel on USV operations and maintenance.
- The Ops Lead will have the Ops Coordinator as a direct report.
- At-sea testing may sometimes require extended-hours work weeks. Overtime and/or compensatory time is authorized for extended working hours.
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Master's degree in a relevant field and 6 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience (additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree)
- Experience managing operations for US Navy, USCG, or DoD maritime projects.
- Experience managing support craft and crew for US Navy testing activities, including small craft and chartered test support vessels.
- Experience with ABS inspection standards and processes
- US Navy/USNS/USCG vessel operational experience.
- Experience with port operations, including interfacing with US Navy Port Ops, pier management, crane operations, refueling, and port security.
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education – Favorable if you have:
- USCG Master's license.
- Experience with unmanned maritime systems operations conducting test & evaluation.
- Experience with Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) Autonomy and remote mission systems.
- Experience conducting test and evaluation of experimental maritime systems at sea.
Clearance Required: US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance upon hire (after start)
Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $150,000.00 - $202,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
