Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Solutions Architect to join the Orlando, FL team and provide technical leadership and for delivering innovative solutions, products, and services in support of modeling and simulation systems/solutions. Candidate will report to the Modeling, Simulation and Training (MS&T) Vice President in Orlando, FL. Candidate will have the current knowledge and hands on experience with advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories that support simulation technologies, innovative solution designs within the modeling and simulation industry and is viewed as a subject matter expert by peers within and outside the organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Leads the development of MS&T concepts and capabilities to be incorporated into simulation solutions and offerings applicable across defense operational domains with initial emphasis on visual systems, sensors and high-fidelity terrain integration, with further customer initiatives to achieve broad JSE and Air Force objectives and Programs. A key focus prioritizes MS&T functionality to be developed via both internal and customer funded efforts, consistent with emerging DoD training constructs. Long-term emphasis is on scaled, distributed software and hardware-based simulation solutions applied in both training and operational scenarios.
- Bridges vision to defined solutions that fuse Leidos’ and partners’ C2, MS&T, and related (e.g. Trusted AI/ML) capabilities that advance Leidos’ ability to anticipate and deliver DoD-wide MDO initiatives into practical operational solutions.
- Works with the MS&T Division to define its role in and mature its capabilities for development and modernization of complex DoD synthetic environment training systems, expanding the MS&T Division’s application of and contribution to Leidos enterprise capabilities.
- Represents the C4ISR Operation in enterprise-wide efforts aligned with the role, to ensure that MS&T is incorporated into Leidos’ Digital Engineering approach and how MS&T enables advanced CI/CD models for complex operational systems.
- Works to secure cross-organization buy-in on solutions that move from current practices toward agreement/acceptance of new concepts, practices, and approaches.
- Works with technical staff and Business Development personnel to understand customer needs; leads development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results.
- Performs technical execution leadership on a combination of customer and internally funded programs and projects.
- Aligns solutions to the technology investment vision of the MS&T Division and the C4ISR Operation under the direction of the Operation CTO.
- Works to secure cross-organization buy-in on solutions that move from current practices toward agreement/acceptance of new concepts, practices, and approaches.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s degree with 13-20 years of prior relevant experience.
- A broad understanding of MS&T and C2 technology, current and emerging DevSecOps methodologies, with focus on application to synthetic training related to MDO/JADC2 initiatives, including classified systems and customers.
- Recent leadership experience in a DoD customer organization(s) where the role directly influenced the direction of future synthetic training environments and constructs.
- Experience in creation and delivery of papers and briefings demonstrating thought leadership, as well as supporting various collaborative efforts through customer interaction.
- Direct experience using VBS Blue, Unreal and Cesium to create synthetic environments for DoD applications and systems.
- Strong background in Air Force virtual simulations.
- Strong communication skills
- US Citizenship is required.
- Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation, must possess a Secret clearance and meet eligibility requirements for a TS/SCI security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent experience in architecting MS&T solutions, with emphasis on emerging synthetic training environments applicable to MDO/JADC2.
- Understanding of internal Leidos MS&T and related capabilities, to include Leidos’ software architectures and frameworks, DevSecOps practices, and Software Factories. Recent experience with key customers / programs is highly preferred, e.g. service MS&T organizations.
- Experience leading the development of innovative distributed training solutions in support of major capture and proposal efforts, balancing these solutions against cost, schedule, function, quality, and other business considerations.
- Direct experience working with relevant DoD user and acquisition organizations.
- Experience in support of and participation in transition of programs from capture/proposal to execution.
- Experience engaging in business development and capture efforts in the role of Solution Architect.
- Familiarity with secured data including multi-level classified data.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $142,350.00 - $219,000.00 - $295,650.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
