This is where your legacy begins! The Leidos Biological Innovations Center currently looking for motivated interns to work in our San Diego, California office for Summer 2023. This is a highly dynamic and integrative environment in which talented and creative scientists can thrive working on a diverse array of multidisciplinary projects.
Primary Responsibilities
You will work alongside and under the guidance of experienced scientists and will be part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team at the forefront of innovation
Assist in the execution of experiments involving cloning and expression of proteins in mammalian, bacterial, and cell-free systems.
Assist in the purification of biotherapeutic and countermeasure proteins and the development of assays to characterize protein function.
The intern will learn/use basic wet lab techniques such as: Western blotting, PCR, plate-based assays, mammalian, and bacterial culturing, cloning/transforming, and others as needed
Assist in routine lab operations (reagent preparation, etc)
Document work and be able to communicate findings and reasoning with other team members
Basic Qualifications
Currently a student in an accredited degree program pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or closely related disciplines
Ability to work 40 hours per week as a member of a cross-functional team
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment
Great work ethic and an enthusiasm for problem-solving
Good presentation, writing and communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with basic molecular biology laboratory techniques and previous laboratory experience is a plus
Pay Range:
Pay Range $44,200.00 - $68,000.00 - $91,800.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
